We relocated from Salt Lake City and bought a home in Liberty Twp. The home values are impressive and the Lakota School district is excellent (we have been here 3 years now). I would recommend staying away Maronda homes (we made that mistake)...

Default Move to Cincinnati

Consider adding Mason, Deerfield Township and West Chester to your search. Here are some websites that may help you with school information.

Ohio Public School Rankings

GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community

SchoolDigger.com - School Rankings, Reviews and More - Public and Private Elementary, Middle, High Schools

Good luck!
Mike

I don't know what your thoughts are on private schools, but you could find a remodeled house in the Pleasant Ridge or Kennedy Heights for a reasonable price. The City of Cincinnati gives a 10 year tax abatement on improvements (i.e. you only pay taxes on the unimproved property). You could use the tax abatement savings to send your kids to The Summit Country Day School or Ursuline Academy. Also Walnut Hills HS is one of the best in the country and is part of CPS.

I live in Kenwood and I absolutely love it here! I was born in Poland and I lived in Chicago most of my life but I moved here to attend college. Kenwood has some really nice houses and it's cheaper than surrounding areas because there's a large commercial district - Kenwood Mall and all the businesses surrounding it. Kenwood is also very close to downtown which is a great convenience. Try Medina, Indian Hill, Blue Ash or even Kenwood. The homes are big and you can buy what many call a mansion for $400,000 and up. $400,000 in Chicago gets you a relatively new ranch, definately under 3,000 square feet, in an average area. I will be looking to purchase a house next year and hopefully the real estate market is still crappy so I can take advantage of it and flip it for profit once Obama's out office.

^ You're stretching it a little bit with "real close to Downtown" (Clifton is "real close") and "what many call a mansion." One is subjective, but the other certainly isn't.
