I call bullcrap on your bullcrap. The vermin that infest the Metropole do so because they are not eligible for CMHA or HUD assisted housing. Why? Because they choose to stay drunk and drugged on the average $500 a month or so they get from SS, VA, SSI, private pensions or what they can beg or steal from the neighborhood. This they cannot do in assisted housing.
There are only about 5000 vacant private housing units available in OTR and downtown. These derelicts choose to live in the Metropole because it has a bar on the first floor, 24 hour drug dealers, and plenty of citizens to panhandle right out on the sidewalk.
Toss em out.

I am happy that issue 3 passed. That presents so many possibilities.. the rest of the results - not so much.. Pretty much status quo:
- More taxes - MRDD, the Library, money to ex-service personnel, etc.
- Same-old-same-old at City Hall. Not many, if any, new faces there. Would have been SO great had Brad Wenstrup been elected over that sorry politician that is now mayor. Wenstrup is head and shoulders above Mallory; I guess I am not surpised, you get what you deserve and I guess the people of Cincinnati do not deserve the likes of Wenstrup - still it would have been nice.
There is a very apt saying: if you keep doing what you are doing, you will keep getting what you are getting. Cincinnati has been on the decline for a long time yet its citizens don't want to change their behavior.
With the exception of issue 3, the most recent election changes nothing.

The people of Cincinnati voted Mallory back in office, because on his watch there is over $2,000,000,000 worth of development happening in Downtown alone, not to mention the rest of the city. OTR is being redeveloped faster than I can even keep up with. Homicide rate is dropping and has been dropping year over year and all Part 1 crime has been decreasing.
You cannot have a non-progressive mayor like you wanted (or if you live outside the city, need to keep your trap shut about because you have no ****ing say so) .... and expect to actually progress. Does this make sense? Mallory was pro-streetcar, LRT, casinos, etc. things we need to move forward ... now your buddy Billy ****ingham and Scott Sloan are going on and on about how they want a streetcar system because of the casino. Funny how that works out isn't it? It's amazing what happens when you actually look down the road! We don't need to move backwards and no Republican will win Cincinnati Mayor again, not unless the Dems put up a complete moron.

On a side note .... Wilson's right.... I used to work Downtown and because of my job, I knew a resident at the Metropole and he can get you anything you want, weed, coke, viagra, X, etc. you name it. The guy's rollin' in cheese and I bet he's ridin' on the coattails of the state. Ohiogirl, if you need anything, I can probably find his number ... just let me know. His accessibility to distribute dope throughout Cincinnati is amazing!
Also, restorationconsultant made a good point ... this was originally a luxury hotel, let's bring it back to what it was meant to be.

wow
I am NOT a Mallory supporter and quite honestly I think you need to be involved in your community to see what LITTLE he does to work with neighborhoods.
While he continues to focus on downtown, the neighborhoods are starting to suffer and will continue to suffer as long as he keeps them put up on the highest shelf in his office, but hey, as long as people have a nice place to visit downtown who cares about the people who live in the City day in and day out. I am not a Dem or a Rep, I also dont support the streetcar to no where. Its okay to have a difference of opinion on things but please dont blast people here because we dont all put Mallory on pedestal, I personally wouldnt let him stand on (or in) my toilet.

Hartwellgirl, I have respect for you, but I'm tired of the idiocy on this forum and most importantly the bitching by folks regarding city issues when they don't live in or have anything to do with the city.
Sure, you want to keep things civilized ... I'm all for it, so I will give you the benefit of the doubt ...
So here goes: you tell me what you believe Mallory has done wrong, in your opinion of course. Please be specific and I will be happy to refute.

I understand where you are coming from Cincy-Rise and quite honestly I am not going to list ALL the reasons I wont support or for that matter can stand the man. There is no debate that would change my mind or position about him.
Bottom line is he is a career politician and doesnt really give a rats behind about me, my neighbors or our neighborhood, just his own political gain.

All I'm asking for are reasons on why you think he is a poor mayor (obviously, with facts behind it)? It is because I am curious myself.

 Nope...Sorry.
All I will say is he sure likes to take credit for things he has had nothing to do with that some may view as a positive, and vanish when something bad happens on his watch. He can be your Mayor, but I didnt vote for him....either time.

Amen to that. He even screwed over his own neighborhood.
