1. That's horrible.

2. That sandwich is from rural Indiana, not Indianapolis.

You shouldn't make assumptions about me, Cincy Rise. I was born in Cincinnati, lived in Price Hill for 7 years and then moved just outside the city limits until 1990. I then lived in Cincinnati again - 45209 - for 8 years before moving to Butler County. So I'm pretty fairly sure I know what it's like to live in the city. Simple as THAT.

Why are you so sensitive about people who don't think Cincinnati's the greatest city in the world? I mean, come on...it's just an opinion. You don't seem to handle that concept well.

Show me an Indy bakery like Servatii's or any Indy cuisine, for that matter.
So what? Why does that make Indianapolis a bad place?

Don't you people ever get nose bleeds from having your heads so high in the clouds? Different people like different things. Not everyone feels that YOUR rules about what makes a city great are the defining rules that count. So get over yourselves and knock off the "mine is bigger than yours" contest. You're only impressing yourselves...no one else, believe me. Just accept that some people don't feel Cincinnati is the end all/be all of American cities...including those of us who were born there and raised there.

I'm gonna play devil's advocate here for a moment...I don't think CincyRise is being all that sensitive about the issue...he shares a characteristic that a LOT of us here in SW Ohio share---pride in our particular city/area with all its/their faults, warts, and foibles included...

If folks seem a tad sensitive to you, it's solely because people who aren't enamored of Cincinnati, and trust me, I don't dispute their right to feel like that, constantly rag on those of us who feel positively about it as if we are bucking for a strait-jacket or a padded cell...

BEGIN PRO-CINCINNATI/SW OHIO RANT HERE:

We like it here, and we also like singing the praises of the city in pictures, chat forum threads, blogs, newspaper/magazine articles, etc.... others who have lived here and NOT liked it, and moved elsewhere, have occasionally come on here to sing the praises of that 'other place' as if the streets flow with milk and honey, and people happily greet each other as they hover 2 feet above the street in their gossamer robes...

In short, you lived here, you didn't like it, you left---we get it...so stop coming here and looking down your noses at those of us who have chosen to stay in the area, raising kids, living life, as though you were observing a particularly distasteful bug that had somehow adhered itself to the bottom of your shoe, and roll the hell on outta Dodge...keep your smug, supposedly superior opinions of yourself and your new city to yourselves, and let Cincinnati and its' people go about the business of making it an even better place...

END RANT!

LOL---Shyspider, none of that preceding vitriol was directed at you, but as I was typing, I thought of other threads here I had read and posted on, and the Captain's 'rant-o-meter' just went off

I'll ignore your rant. Because honestly, I don't think it applies to me. But....

Point out where I've looked down my nose at people who want to live in Cincinnati.

I don't think you'll find one post I've made in which I've stated Cincinnati is a horrible, crime-ridden, detestable place to live. I've simply expressed that I do NOT feel it is the glorified place everyone wants to make it out to be. That's an opinion. And apparently people on these boards have trouble with that concept.

EDIT: Tell you what I might do. I might post a separate thread about how I feel about the city, how I feel about where I live now, and why I want to live somewhere else. It may actually surprise some of you to read what I have to say...assuming anyone would even be interested - which, knowing me, very few people would be. But what the hell....just to get it out of my system, I think I'll work on that and post it sometime soon.

I specifically stated that my post was not directed at you...and I also stated within said post that people have the right to have a dissenting opinion about Cincinnati...

I am most definitely NOT the Opinion Sheriff here...I've said so on more than one occasion

In the end, people who cannot find happiness and joy in Cincinnati are just not happy or joyful people. Its not about the city, it is all about them. This test has been performed and the results are in. Hundreds of thousands of people like Cincinnati and find tremendous happiness here and many stay their whole lives here. Are they all stupid people that don't know what they are missing by not living in Indianapolis, Chicago, Cleveland ________? Have they not traveled or lived in other cities? Are they so dull they can't tell the difference between the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland orchestra or the great weather in Cleveland and the crappy weather here? Do they not make friends and have jobs so it doesn't matter to them that people are supposedly unfriendly here? Five or ten people, the same people show up here with some complaint or other. "Isn't there too much crime?" "Not enough snow?" "Too much snow?" The same drivel over and over and so those of us who love Cincinnati and are happy here get weary of acting like these are reasonable people asking reasonable questions when what we have are a sorry bunch of losers who either want to try to pick a fight over something or vent their own personal frustrations. When a person stumbles in here and starts ragging on Cincinnati, it is sure to be about them.

My advice to people who don't like the city - get lost, take a hike, move to a place you think will make you happy and if you are living here, leave the city to those of us who know something about it. Or, ask a nice question like "which neighborhood has the best schools?" Or, "is there a water park nearby?" Not: "How can you people stand the crime?" Or, "why are people so unfriendly?" It just says that you are a loser.

Actually, that's not always true. Sometimes it is about the city. How could it not be? The sole reason many people ask about a city is to find out if it fits in with their idea about what kind of environment they want to live in, correct? Isn't that why people search around for a new place that feels like home to them?

Let me ask you....would you be happy living in Albuquerque? How about Memphis? What about Fargo? Phoenix? Buffalo? Charlotte? Laredo? Spokane? Sacramento? Cheyenne? Boston?

Why or why not?

You seem to be contradicting yourself. Above you inferred that it's not the city that makes someone unhappy - it's themselves. But now you're telling people to leave the city if it doesn't make them happy and to find someplace that will make them happy.

Sometimes it's not that easy to simply move somewhere else. A person's environment can play a big part in their personal happiness. I don't absolutely hate Cincinnati, but I don't love it either. There was a time when I loved it, but I've seen other places around the country which are much more appealing to me and now I don't like it as much as I used to....especially the weather. Unfortunately I'm not in the position right now to just "get lost" or "take a hike" in order to move to one of those places.
