Are you sure? cabins are spendy and I really don't know anyone with one.
I've always wondered why LA's team were the Lakers. Isn't there very little lakes in the LA area if any?

Oh I know which one it was. it was kind of a rhetorical question.

I should note I was talking about inland lakes in the lower 48. Alaska has some bigger ones but they don't count because it isn't a fair fight.

Besides Okeechobee, Michigan and Champlain are both inland lakes.
Great Salt Lake and Salton Sea are inland lakes.
There are several lakes in Alaska that are also bigger than Winnebago in Wisconsin.
My guess is that there are a few others as well and Winnebago is not even in the top 10 in size.

Yep, they used to be a Minneapolis team, and before that they were the Detroit Gems. They just didn't change their name when they went to LA.

I don't know, I've never been further west than Rapid City. But I don't imagine many if any lakes in LA.

Lake Superior is the largest and deepest of the Great Lakes.
But shared with Canada making Michigan the largest lake entirely within the US, which is what the poster said.

I forgot about Okeechobee, but the Red Lake is twice the size of Winnibago making it #4(?) in the Lower 48 states.

Sure it was.

Great Salt Lake and Salton Sea are inland lakes.
Not freshwater though, which was necessary for his criteria of Winnibago being #2 biggest lakes entirely within the US.

While I agree with your logic, it's still arbitrary.

I think you're from Minnesota so you may know...

But I get a lot of sarcastic responses about our 15,000 lakes here and they are always like "woah, 15,000 large ponds, that must be real cool" or "Yeah, but they are what they are-lakes"

Minnesota has not only a TON of lakes, but a lot of LARGE lakes. we have 3 lakes with OVER 100,000 acres in area. That's NOT counting Lake of the Woods or Lake Superior.

In my honest opinion, the "State with the Best Lakes" goes..

1. Michigan - The # of lakes- (10,000+, but by 4 acre standards) The 2 peninsulas on Great Lakes
2. Minnesota - The # of lakes- (15,000), Lake Superior, and large lakes like Red, Mille Lacs, Lake of the Woods, Gull Lake and Lake Minnetonka and White Bear
3. Wisconsin - The outcome if MI and MN had S.e.X and produced a child. Outdoorsy-ness of MN, plus the Great Lakes feel of Michigan
4. New York - Finger Lakes, Great Lakes Access, plus their lakes have Hills by them

Lake Minnetonka is awesome in itself and there really isn't anything like that in any metro in the USA. Same goes for White Bear Lake. Not to mention the 10 lakes inside of Minneapolis' 56 sq miles. Have you ever caught a Walleye on your lunch break from your White Collar job that's located on the 50th storey of a high-rise? Only in Minnesota.
