Don't think you're going to get an agreement on this as even the NOAA and the USACE refer to them as Lakes Michigan-Huron in various graphs and reports.

If there's no border, how come everything east of the Mackinac Bridge is considered Lake Huron and everything west is considered Lake Michigan?
