^^You're starting to get the best of both worlds in cities like Houston, Dallas, and Atlanta though.
I like what is going on in Midtown Atlanta, but still prefer a slightly more urban setting. There are far to few neighborhoods where you can walk, and most are not linked. I like to be able to walk or take a short cab ride into many different neighborhoods, restaurants, scenes/vibes.
What, you don't think you can get scenes like that in Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta?
In some areas but not block after block, and no there is not a comparable neighborhood/s in any of the cities you listed. But there are also areas in those cities that offer things you can not find in other types of cities.
Actually you either don't know or too young to remember but Laface Records,Dallas Austin's Rowdy Record's,Rico Wade with Organized Noise were KILLING it back in the the entire nineties,
So many groups/artist were coming out of Atlanta that were ALWAYS in the top 10.
Arrested Development
Monica
Tony Braxton
Goodie Mob
Mase
112
Total
808
Silk
ABC
TLC
OutKast
Pebbles
BabyFace
Usher

So um...No,Atlanta has been in and has NOT left the game.It now has the infrastructure and support to now and further in the future to only command its position as a major player after NYC,and L.A.,in the entertainment field.
If it were indeed more hype than substance I suppose its still better than what other cities like Houston is getting.Otherwise things like the Olympic would have never been awarded. There has to be some grain of truth for hype to become reality and Atlanta is definatey a city that started on hype but today has EVERYTHING that it needs to become bigger and better than it already is.My Gradmama used to say:"if you don't love you,how you gonna expect anybody else too.I guess judging from all the accolades Atlanta is getting along with the growth, there must be something more than you obviously are oblivious to what is and HAS been going on for quite sometime.

Nonsense, at least in the case of Atlanta. For one, there is train service to every major quadrantsin the city so I don't understand this "not linked" comment. If you can't take a train to it, you can get there on bus. Or by taxi or car. Then there are dozens of walkable neighborhoods, by no means is it just Midtown.

Am I wrong to have an opinion and/or preferance?
You are just wrong that you wont see that sort of activity. I can't really speak for Dallas or Houston, but for Atlanta there are tons of activity centers in the city....they just aren't lined up in a nice neat row for tourists to find.
No picture or explanation will make you see it differently, so I'll just let you keep your opinion.

I have been to Atlanta many times, and I agree there are areas that are fun. They are just not as compact (you can't really walk to the next and to the next etc.), my preferance. I actually like Atlanta, really
My point was I walk two blocks and find this, then another block and so on and so on, that is the point
And on Midtown, it is my preferance in Atlanta, just like I have favorite areas in most cities

I see, that's a horse of different color though. But its not as if you are in the middle Midtown you cant neighborhood hop. Go north a few blocks your in Sobu, then Peachtree battle, then central buckhead, then north buckhead, then brookhaven, or go east and hit ponce, or highlands, or little five, or eav, or cabbagetown, or candle park, or grant park. Or south and hit Downtown, Castleberry Hill, West End. You get the point. All of this stuff (not everything within distance) is within just a few miles and you can take the train or walk to it. We're not talking 30 minutes and a long drive between these places.
If I had one of those homes in that suburban neighborhood, I'm not:
cutting the grass myself
hiring anyone to cut my grass
would be miserable and bored to tears
not trimming one tree or bush
etc. etc.
LMAO, no way. It looks like there could be some turn of the century roaches in that first pic that set up picnics around Raid and Black Flag lol. Yeah I may consider passing on this suburban neighborhood too. I like the other homes/setting a lot better in the aforementioned Philadelphia area shot. Anything NEWER is always going to be the more viable option for me.
