yeah, my city (Memphis) is #5. Sad. I always felt that we had an average number of overweight people. My other city (St. Louis) is #49, right in the middle, good stuff, I guess
My city's newspaper ran an article not too long ago that said we are the 2nd fattest city in the country (San Antonio, Texas). Can't remember who compiled the list, but I'm not going the argue it at all.
There are grossly fat people all over the place here. People have the habit of driving to get to places 1/4 of a mile down the road. Not to mention we are the Tex-Mex capital of the world in addition to barbecue and Southern Food that has big influence here.
I just visited my brother in Atlanta and was amazed at all the obese people walking around there. That southern food sure does taste good, but damn, look what it does to you.
Cities in the South and Midwest tend to have their share of fatasses. I've seen fatties in cities on the coasts though. Anywhere with an extremely high poverty rate and/or an undereducated population tend to have higher rates of obesity.

Texas in general is unhealthy.
Especially when the Texas state fair brags about having the most fried food of any state fair. Fried butter as a snack, GROSS . They should have a defribulator waiting beside the food stands.
