Consider any of the following cities ...

Austin - ultra progressive city with a hip & funky vibe
Columbus - Extremely progressive, very socially tolerant and has a healthy economy. Great urban feel & amenities.
Dallas - HUGE metro area with excellent job market! Big city amenities ...
Orlando - decent job market & sunny

OmShahi I would love to see those pictures if it isn't to much trouble and John I appreciate the advice and the only reason I wrote off austin to be honest is because I heard it has terrible public transportation.

Mundus33, you can view my photo albums by visiting my profile. There you can also visit the "threads" that I created, which include many photos.
One interesting thread that I created is "Columbus & Charlotte, A truthful Journey", it's located in the city vs city forum, or you may type the title into the search box.

Best of everything with your decision

Consider it done, it says I can only upload about 300 pictures total on here, so I'll pick the best ones of Chicago from my camera memory with 537 pictures of Chicago total.

Give me tonight to upload it, and then you can check out the architecture and crowd and all that stuff from my pictures.

Thanks for those pictures they were very nice. I think that I will be looking around chicago for a place to live and would like to know what areas have cheap rental apartments and easy access to public transport. Low crime is obviously a must but I figure it would be easier to avoid bad neighborhoods then try and find the perfect neighborhood.

From what I have read the bad areas are Berwyn, Cicero, Maywood, Bellwood, Aurora, NWI, Merrilleville, Aurora, Joliet, Elgin, Waukegan, West Chicago, Naperville, Bolingbrook, Burbank, Bridgeview, Chicago Ridge, Hickory Hills, Englewood, Austin, Lawndale, Gresham, Logan Square, South Shore, Lake view, and Huboldts Park. Is this accurate and if not what do I need to add or remove. (To be honest I hope this is incorrect because that is a lot of bad neighborhoods )

I don't live in Chicago (half my family does) and I can tell you that you'll be fine in MOST parts of Aurora, Joliet, Elgin and Naperville. I've heard of and seen some of the bad neighborhoods in those areas and yes, stay away, but some of these cites (all actually) are too huge to completely avoid.
