We have an opportunity to live around Charlotte or Atlanta. We need to be within 30-40mins. of an airport. Good Schools Price Range around 400-425.

You can find that in both cities.

As well as many others apart from CLT and ATL, I'm sure. Why those two cities?

Thanks for your reply-My husbands job allows us to live in one of these places-Atlanta Area, Charlotte Area, or Raleigh? We are clueless on which is best. We know the Charlotte and Atlanta Area very well. Raleigh not so much-heard Cary is nice.

We have 2 children one in Elem. one in Middle school. Schools come first and we want a nice safe area. We want a freindly area- I've been told that Northerns are not that welcomed in NC?

I live in a small town, 30 - 40 minutes west of CLT airport. I am a Yankee. I happen to be the only one in my neighborhood, although plenty more are in this town & the surrounding area & towns. No one has showed up with tar & feathers & pitch forks yelling "Yankee go home". If I don't have a problem, you sure won't have one closer to Charlotte or in Charlotte. Hope that helps.

My dad is a Yankee and has been in NC since 77 and went to school at WCU. If a yankee can survive NC I'm sure you'll have nothing to worry about. As far as schools go, elementary and middle schools are not bad here. However, if you can go private then I would.

You should check out Peachtree City in Fayette County, about 20 minutes south of ATL Airport. Excellent schools, family atmosphere, quality of life and right now, withthe housing market still down, you could get a mini mansion for $400,000! THOUSANDS of northern and western transplants, too. You're very likely to find neighbors from the same place you're from, no matter where that is. Guaranteed.
