Parade, Festival, Inner City Activities, Firework Show?
How does your city celebrate the 4th of July?
Pictures list of events etc.
I'm also going to go out on the limb and say "]EVERY CITY CELEBRATES THEIR FIREWORKS BY SOME BODY OF WATER."
Orlando -
Downtown Orlando has Fireworks show and a day at the park @ Lake Eola which has radio stations, local organizations to support the event and provide entertainment to the locals. I must say tourist also get the change to flee the theme parks (Since they have Fireworks numerous nights throughout the year) and come and enjoy downtown Orlando. We have the Orlando Predators (AFL) so tourist get to come enjoy a game if the 4th lands on the right day.
Of course the theme parks (Sea World, Universal, Disney) all have their own spectacular shows. Each is different though. I have seen all, I could see them from my home near the theme parks and the one downtown is much more interesting IMO.
Columbus has "one of the largest" fireworks displays in the entire midwest, and it is the largest in the state of Ohio.
It's known as "RED, WHITE & BOOM", an enormous INDEPENDENCE DAY FESTIVAL that is held on July 2nd, in the city centre of Columbus.
The FIREWORKS are deployed near the banks of the mighty Scioto river ... this immense display is absolutely spectacular to see, especially as they reflect on the skyscrapers downtown, and on the placid waters of the river.
Columbus' trademark and most prolific skyscraper, the ornate "LeVeque Tower", has it's crown illuminated in "red, white & blue" in observance of the holiday.
Here's a photo from last years "RED, WHITE & BOOM" in Columbus
I'm bout to sound REAL bias, but nothing beats watching either the Macy's Fireworks from Liberty state Park in Jersey City with the Statue of Liberty AND the whole NYC skyline in plain view. I'm sorry, but it CAN'T be topped
They should really shoot the fireworks ON Liberty Island instead of Macy's. The fireworks is well off to the south of Lady Liberty (or north if you're in NYC) but imagine (as NYers and NJians) if they'd would blast the fireworks right next to the Statue of Liberty in the middle of the river, that would be a sight to see!
They've done something like this a few times before, but why not do it every 4th of July!?

Orlando has an event called Red Hot and Boom, its also a huge firework display held on July 3rd, but also features free concerts from national and sometimes international artists... Bright House Networks - RHB! (http://rhb.xl1067.com/main.html - broken link)
There are also many other smaller events around the metro, in just about every community..
Then of course there are the big events at the theme parks, which are actually really impressive but they don't feel like the traditional 4th of july celebrations. Their too touristy.
