I think Miami is probably the MOST exposed city in the South. More so than ATL.
Exactly, Miami is ALWAYS on tv and ALWAYS being mentioned in songs especially Hip-Hop. Don't get me wrong Atlanta gets it's fair share of shoutouts in songs too, but all of the tv shows and movies etc. that are in Miami, it's crazy.
Go back and read my post now, it seems like there are a lot of older people on this site, you haven't heard of some of those shows? I mean I'm 21 so I'm still pretty young but geez.
Ah! Now I've heard of those shows in the edit!
However, Atl's exposure extends beyond the television with an airport that probably just about everyone has been in at some point, a drink that everyone drinks on a regular basis, a mega store that everyone has been in at least a few times (I'll admit though that only a few probably actually know where Home Depot is headquartered at), etc... Plus Atlanta goes out of its way to get its name out there.
I don't know. Maybe someone just made 48 different accounts to vote for ATL. It's Sunday. I don't feel like trying to figure this out right now lol.
P.S. -- My vote is for Atlanta, however, because of the airport. If you do away with ATL you cripple air travel for the entire nation and much of the world.
ATL is a huge hub and very important to air travel, however if it went away, it would not cripple aviation.
My firm did a study ranking most of the major airports around the country. We came up with something that resembles this:
MEGA-HUBS: Hubs that have a balance large amounts of domestic service and international air service with a good balance. These hubs carry at least 150,000 passengers through them per day. These hubs attract foreign carriers, but the number of international passengers carried by domestic carriers is a great deal larger:
Atlanta-ATL
Chicago-ORD
Dallas-DFW
International Gateways: Airports with a large bias for international traffic. The major international gateways in the US. The magnents for foreign carriers on American Soil. They serve as hubs, but have a bias for O&D traffic:
New York-JFK
Los Angeles-LAX
San Francisco-SFO
Miami-MIA
Gateways/Hubs with a bias for International traffic. These airports offer a larger than normal percentage of international traffic as a part of the whole. They still offer domestic service to most major cities. Some may be hubs, but others may be focus cities. These gateways also attract foreign carriers:
Gateways/Hubs with a bias toward Domestic Service. Airports with mostly large amounts of domestic service. These airports have some international service, but have a much larger share of domestic traffic:
Phoenix-PHX
Minneapolis-MSP
Las Vegas-LAS
San Deigo-SAN
Orlando-MCO
Portland-PDX
Salt Lake City-SLC
Cinncinatti-CVG
Hubs that fit into more than one category:
Seattle-SEA
Detroit-DTW
Philadelphia-PHL
Fort Lauderdale-FLL

Hartsfield is definitely a powerhouse but MIA is no slacker. A drink? You ever heard of SoBe? It stands for South Beach. Two big franchises we can compare, Atlanta has Home Depot headquarters but Miami has Burger King.

You can't really compare SoBe with Coca Cola though. I would wager that for every person that has drank a SoBe, 25 more people have had a Coke just in this country alone. Extend that to the world and I would bet the number would climb into the hundreds.

I'm just pointing out that Miami is no slouch though.

and atlanta has wendy's, arby, church's, popeyes,... really.... we can go tick for tack all day with restaurants. Both Miami and atlanta have a lot of corporations. But home depot and burger king don't compare.

Lol I was just thinking, you could mix Miami and Atlanta together to create a drink. (Bacardi and Coke)
Lmao, everytime I drink a coke and rum I'm going to think of that now.
