That leaves us Paterson (great falls), Elizabeth (one of USA's greenest cities), Atlantic City (B'walk, casinos), Hoboken (clubs, bars), New Brunswick (Rutgers town).

On GA side: Macon, Savannah, Augusta, Athens, Columbus.
I'm not sure I would brag about New Brunswick lol. From what I've heard the area around Rutgers isn't nice. I'm sure there are other nice areas of New Brunswick though.

Which cities do you think are more poised for growth? It seems as though New Jersey's cities will remain stable in population, but I could see more and more people flocking to Georgia (from all over the country). Before the recession, up here it seemed as though anyone who was moving away was moving to Atlanta.

The opposite, the area around Rutgers is very nice (and new), gone are the days of New Gunswick. But that's not to say there still aren't areas in NB that aren't nice.

Was there a turnaround within the past several years? My cousin attended Rutgers in the early 2000s and the area had a reputation then. She was even pepper sprayed by someone while driving (not sure what the circumstances were at the time, may have been a riot).

Maybe the last ten-fifteen years.

The main campus spreads into Piscataway and is a city in itself

I'd have no problem with doing that. I've already done so in the past more than I can count. The only reason why I may seem like I'm not is because I've been in a debate with a sad NYer who doesn't have a thread of his own at the moment. (Basically, he'll settle for a NJ thread because it's part of his MSA... The irony of it all is a shame on his part)

A state to state comparison should just be realistic is all I'm saying.

I have no problem with GA at all- Though I don't know how the comparison is adequate at all in terms of what to compare due to the vast differences.

For one, the whole North Eastern Region is a part of the NYC MSA- NJ's only crime is that the city settles itself just outside NJ's borders- NENJ is still apart of that NYC's MSA just as much as Decatur is a part of the Atlanta MSA.
NJ is also about 7x's smaller than GA- So excuse us if we have to pull the access card, it's not like we have to really drive through NYS or PA to get to NYC/Philly- We can get there directly after crossing NJ's state border.

For example:
GA has great cities like ATL and Savannah- Now time get realistic- ATL is 250 miles from Savannah, there's no where in NJ that is that far from NYC Philly, Newark, JC, Atlantic City, Any shore town etc. We may not be in NYS or PA, but we overall have better access to NYC and Philly more so than the vast majority of NYS and PA themselves..
NYS has Buffalo (it's 2nd city) and NYC- Now in real life, Jersey City would be the more ideal location if one wanted access to NYC. That's just the case with NJ- NYC is in NYS, but what does that matter to the people who live 1-7 hours away upstate?

Now what sounds more unfair here? NJ being a part of NYC/Philly MSAS with great access, or GA boosters who want to stomp the fact that we don't have much to work with in terms of land size.

Beyond all the great things NJ has to offer- (It ranks 7th in tourism btw), lets compare access.

GA: The Great Smoky Mountains National park (that's a more impressive park than anything around NJ), FL's Emerald Coast, and Charleston.

NJ:.... I think you get the point.

lET ME TRY TO ATTACK THIS ONE STEP AT A TIME. jERSEYANS ARE SO DELUSIONAL LOL

the Bronx is one big Ghetto. The only mansions are in Westchester, not Bronx. Bronx has the worst crime, worse than any boro in NYC and worse than any city in NJ. People from the Bronx are looked down upon by other New Yorkers and New Jerseyans.

The Bronx lifestyle is gangs, hip-hop, and crime.
1.The bronx is not one big ghetto. Is new jersey one big guido inspired cesspool?
2.There are mansions in riverdale up to 15 million. There are homes in the northern bronx aswell
3.The bronx pales in comparison to trenton, camden and newark.I said this before
4. The bronx is not worst than brooklyn when it comes to overall crime
5. THE WHOLE UNITED STATES INCLUDING NEW YORKERS FROM THE BRONX LOOK DOWN UPON NEW JERSEY. Maybe the world itself

PEOPLE MAKE MONEY(millions of dollars) OFF MAKING JERSEY A LAUGHING STOCK. TURN THE TV ON

New Jersey, like the rest of NYC, is civilized and sophisticated. Most Northernn New Jerseyans are REAL New Yorkers .
What new yorker would consider someone from nj a real nyer lol. Your a clown. Most nyers whether they're from manhattan or the bronx could careless about new jersey. Im pretty sure north manhattan and the mean streets of brooklyn are worst lET ALONE CAMDEN AND TRENTON

It's a bleak life in the Bronx, I hope you will be safe tonight, may no stray bullets hit you.

Life is bleak just living in new jersey. Jerseyans would tell you that jersey sucks. At the end of the day, atleast the bronx has an identity. So much to the point that you can point it out. Theres no one single place in new jersey that hits or resonates with the general populous at all. Get an identity beyond SNOOKI whose a upstate new yorker.lol

Oh I definitely hear you, I saw your posts early on and it didn't include NY at all. And a state to state comparison should definitely be realistic.

I'd be more inclined to do state/state proper if that was part of the OP's criteria. Not people coming on here saying what a state/state comparison should be (in a thread that's not theirs)

One thing I pointed out earlier is that one of OP's criteria was economy. So how are we supposed to ignore NY in that regard? It's damn near impossible (the same way NY has to mention NJ when it comes to metro).

But even w/ that, some people feel they must toss in their version of a comparison. My response to them is to start their own thread w/ their preferred criteria, don't take over someone else's.

Of NJ, GA, and...uh...the BX, NJ is the safest, BX is the least safest.

Crime in Bx is the worst of all the boroughs, yet KONJ is still on here trying to boost the place. Lonely over there on the NY forums still?
