San Diego : 1,375,000 (as 8th)
Dallas : 1,330,000 (as 9th)
But yes, they are both growing. True but how did you know that census numbers will be out it June 2011? Gimme a link. Can you edit your post to show your numbers?!?
To be completely honest, given that Dallas is my in state brethren city and I love it a lot, I have also grown to not underestimate it. They have a very sporadic growth pattern, one year they will grow very slow (city wise) and the next year they will be bustling.
I took things into consideration as well, economic output, cost of living, & migration patterns all of which presently seem to favor Dallas more than San Diego. They are both roughly in the same ball park, and I can see it going either way.
But the link from the Houston surpassing Philadelphia for 5th largest MSA, there was an article there that showed how little growth San Diego has had. And Dallas currently the city is not growing nearly as fast as it once used to due to Fort Worth stealing it's thunder on growth.
And yeah let me I'll repost my list with new estimates of what I think the population will be like for the cities, give me a few minutes to half an hour to get it typed up and look up some things on how certain cities are doing economically.
I like San Diego more than Dallas, I even like it more than my hone cities of Austin, Chicago, & Houston, and more than Los Angeles too. But they are both great cities, but growth presently is favoring Dallas more.
And yeah I do know they will release the information in June 2011 to the public, they stopped counting the numbers up already and have already released the metropolitan areas population, but they will take the next 8 months or so to configure demographics and economic variables. It's on their site that they will release the information next June. I'll post that too in my next post.

Well, we have our own predictions . You may think that Dallas is bigger than SD, but I say San Diego is bigger. Didn't you see? I think someone posted earlier (maybe it was you) that the Census Estimates 2009 said that:
San Diego - 1,306,301 - 8th (my prediction: 1,375,000 - 8th)
Dallas - 1,299,543 -9th (my prediction: 1,330,000 - 9th)
Besides, they are just estimates. Why, maybe San Diego is still at 7th. They won't know until the 2010 census predictions.
Once again, this is my largest 20 cities predictions
1. New York 8,500,000
2. Los Angeles 4,200,000
3. Chicago 2,900,000
4. Houston 2,350,000
5. Phoenix 1,650,000
6. San Antonio 1,500,000

Did you post the same thing 2 times? First you said Philly was at 1.6 and now you say its 1.55m.
I am pointing out your list (posted twice is wrong) well over 1.55 probably closer to 1.6. Ok enjoy your personal banter
