Amen to that! There's lots to like, I think, in both areas. Really, I think it comes down to what really works better for you--Do you have family that you need to be closer too? Where are they? What kind of job/industry are you in? What type of lifestyle do you lead? What is really more important to you in life/where are you at in life(for example, if you are retired, like my mother, your east/west coast pension may go farther in S. TX)--HOWEVER, if you are younger/single, you may prefer the more progressive/vibrant scene of Austin/Los Angeles(S.A. is a little slow for those not family oriented--they call it 'manana-town' here). It all really depends. A simpler, slower way of life, or a bit more bustling? As a younger person, I prefer to be in Los Angeles. As for raising a family, I would prefer S.A....I think whatever works will work for you and be your 'perfect' place, so to speak, depending upon where life is taking you.

I am appalled that people think I made this thread to bash Texas. In my OP I was fair in showing maps of both areas including short summaries. I have not compared the two because I haven't spent enough time in Texas to do so. I added Houston to try to be fair and all I get is bickering about how it's unfair blah blah blah. Comparing the whole sate of Texas to one region of California wouldn't have been very fair at all either.

I'm very easy going about that, and I can tolerate quite a lot.

But the one thing and absolutely one thing in life I cannot and probably will not ever tolerate is stupidity. Simply in the essence that everyone with a normal functioning mind has the ability to base off knowledge and retain it. People who have disabilities are not fortunate enough to take advantage of swiftly gaining knowledge as much as the average joe, and I see that as a mock to them that there are people who can live a normal life but act so stupid and say things so stupid.

Stupidity and ignorance are things that I hate more than anything in the world, when I see it, I call it as it is, and I hate those people a lot. I cant stand stupid and dumb, I spent my entire life trying to work on knowing things and the things I don't know I don't talk about, if I am wrong I admit to it and learn from it.
But there are people who go based off of stereotypes and rumors, and they generalize, it really ticks me off because they are stupid. Literally stupid, they don't deserve to have that fully functional mind they waste it and bring disgrace to anything that has to do with intellect. A person who has not been to either place or even one of them should not be talking as if they have, and post after post, thread after thread they do the exact same thing, bashing very subtly so no one notices, Houston or Dallas and praising Boston & Philadelphia.
Quite frankly it has gone noticed and it is annoying.

I prefer Southern California over South Texas too but one thing I do want to see some massive developments and changes in the cities of Corpus Christi & South Padre, they have potential to be great cities. (based off location)
I noticed this a lot too. It is very annoying. Everyone on this site is biased. We all are biased. I try not to be. I try to see both sides and I always favor one over the other. If I have not been to either city or region, I analyze what has been said in previous posts and look at all the information then try to make a fair assessment. I hate it too when people bash my city. I don't usually stick up for the Bay area but if someone gets out of hand I will defend it because all of us Californians have each others backs. People on here always generalize and stereotype and it is indeed getting out of hand on these boards.

Agreed. I believe if you havn't been to either place or if you have only experienced one, you really have no business voting/commenting. People do have ideas based on stereotypes, etc. Of course, people will have their biases, I certainly do, and that's to be expected. However, I won't comment unless I really know what I am talking about(and that means extensive/meaningful travel in both places). It is annoying when people say that they traveled thru somewhere on a freeway for an hour or so and say they think they know what its about--OR they base it all on what so and so's mother's sister told them, or what they might have seen on TV.

South Texas is actually not doing as bad as I predicted, but I guess 38 votes is still a little short.

South Texas is mostly going to be anchored by San Antonio. It is home of the South Texas Medical center, as well as some good universities, UTSA, Trinity, etc.

Here are some more pictures of South Texas.

That bothers me too. One time there was this thread awhile back and this guy said something like "I've never been to Texas, but I'm going to base this off of my mother who went there and the posts on this forum. Florida has palms and year around sunshine. Texas has none of that!" Sure, Dallas may not have as many palms as Corpus and certainly isn't on a beach, but do people realize the different regions and how big it is? There are parts of the state that is a desert and is going to have sunshine basically all the time.

Sorry if I jumped to the conclusion that the thread was perhaps an attempt to bash South Texas; clearly I was wrong and apologize for my earlier comments. No offense meant, bro.
