What about homes? Wouldn't you get more for your money in housing in Dallas, Plano and Cedar Hill compared to Charlotte. Is seems the houses in Charlotte are plain and box looking, too many cookie cutters. Is there more to do in the city in Dallas versus Charlotte? What was your deciding factor moving from Dallas to Charlotte?

Those of us whose families have been here for a long time, no matter whether they came as immigrants or slaves or people seeking a new opportunity or were already here, are proud of our accomplishments. We've taken this land and made something out of nothing, through a combination of hard work and sheer luck. That's not to romanticize a very problematic past, but when I look back at when I was very young, standing on a dirt road (no lie, and I'm only in my early 30's!!!) in a small town in the middle of nowhere, and consider how far Texas has come since then, I am proud. Rather than sell out our state, native Texans remain loyal to Texas and continue to work hard to make it better. We are brainwashed from birth, you could say, but if we didn't believe in the future of Texas, who would? So many of you think it's ugly!
I appreciate someone who loves their state like that. I love mine of NC just the same. But I still think Charlotte is more city than Austin.

I could not have said it better myself. I actually plan on going to the NASCAR hall of fame when it opens. Got to keep an open mind ya know.

Also, based on skyline, economy, culture, urban core, education, etc. who really wins? Charlotte's gdp is higher than Austins, 114 to 71 billion respectively. Both run pretty close as far as skylines go, with Charlotte having 24 buildings over 90m built or under construction versus 21 for Austin. So skyline is in the eye of the beholder. I guess it really just depends. Charlotte also has a bigger metro area versus Austin. So, if you're from Texas you'll probably say Austin wins. If you're from NC you'll probably say Charlotte wins. Austins this debate by majority rules. But Charlotte gets a moral victory.

I gota go with Austin. Charlotte has ALOT of advantages such as light rail(which austin is getting) and pro sports teams, BUT Charlotte is a waaaaay larger metro then Austin. And beuty wise Austin hands down, everyone saw those Austin pics. The NC pics are nice to, BUT those NC pics were waay far out in western NC.
