No other cities are as awesome. Just ask anyone on here.
Entitlement as judged by CD ? What does that mean ?
Factors decreasing DC's score include the reliance on politics and lack of a Hollywood.
Dallas claims the number one spot for the city doing the most work in its metro and for having fashion that NY, LA, Paris, Milan and Boise Idaho are jealous of.
Austin is the liberal capital of the world.
Houston is on the List because I hear in five years they will have more people than Africa.
Phoenix has the best weather in the world and they are welcoming and tolerant to immigrants.
Atlanta scores high because Coca Cola is more popular than bibles and the Real Housewives of Atlanta are the best in these series of shows.
Seattle is twice the size of Vancouver so duh.
Fort Worth is..... um it is close to Dallas
Take a drive down the Vegas Strip and you will see why it is more powerful than DC (please don't leave the strip)
I think NY should be a little higher, because when I am there, I can always sense the number of PPSM (people per square mile), and I know I'm in a heavily populated census tract. I sleep at night in a building that's densely packed amongst others, with a multitude of sidewalk cafes open on the ground floor.
I would have to disagree; there is nothing scientific about it. There is a world ranking based on 6 criteria that puts NYC in the #1 spot ahead of world class cities like London, Paris and Hong Kong. However Boston, Chicago, and SF are on the list too. There is a US to European exports list of all US metropolitan citis that is issued by the US government. It lists these metropolitan areas as #20 in billions of export dollars; I was surprised. The four cities are NYC, Chicago, SF and Peoria, Illinois.
The thing to remember about Forbes, Sperling and the rest is they all get their info from the same sources and precious few of the bean counters have ever set foof in any town their media promotes for adverising dollars. I personally don't consider lists creditable that are not compiled by US Feds, state, city, county or parish.
