Berkely, CA.
Just over 500K: Portland, OR and Salt Lake, UT.

Why is a city only not diverse if it "leans republican?" By definition, doesn't diversity imply multiple points of view? If "everyone" leans left, isn't that just as non-diverse as if everyone leaned right?

Politically it is, but "left-leaning" cities often have a more bohemian taste and atmosphere to them. You have to admit, you're more likely to see a gay couple holding hands in San Francisco and Portland than in Minneapolis or Oklahoma City.

Just under, and the criteria was 150K to 500K.

Boulder, CO is a city too small for this thread, but full of intolerant liberals. It is said the idea of "diversity" there is people of color that all think alike (and there really aren't that many people of color).

Portland, Minneapolis, Boston, Denver and Seattle are very white-bread for major cities.

From a thread about the most diverse city:

Seattle is even less diverse than Denver. Just a lot of whites, and many different Asian groups.
