Which city do you guys think has the overall better nightlife? IMO I think San Diego wins by far. San Diego's Gaslamp quarter has a unique vibe to it that I've never experienced before in any other city except perhaps Vegas.

San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter is nice, but comparable to Vegas?? C'mon now.
I've actually never experienced the nightlife in SF, even though I've been to the city a few times before, but from reading the SF vs. LA nightlife thread, those two cities have a fair competition. San Diego's Gaslamp district is not bad, especially for the city's otherwise small city feel and laid-back culture, but I wouldn't say it's on the level of LA, and certainly not Vegas.
I grew up in Sf and lived there 20 year. I live in Mission beach san diego now. I love downtown san diego because its very open and laid back, not alot of people running around, hardly any traffic, easy parking, cheap food. but there is also about half as much stuff to do as there is in and AROUND the city. In SF itself theres enough to do, but cross a bridge and ull end up doing something uve never seen before. You gotta put in work tho it wont just come to you.
its diffferent tho. I mean here in Sd there is alot of great BARS by the beach and great place to eat and drink ur booze, skoke ur chronic whatever. but if u want like a serious club/ new york vibe with a lot nicer people than those dick head new yorkers than Sf is it. If u wanna go get super smashed and end up on the beach drunk as ****, then SD. also, take note. VERY conservative down here in sd, and much cheaper i would say.
Having been to SF many times, I wasn't too impressed with the gay nightlife there. Outside of that, I've been to Ruby Sky and thought it was pretty good.
I suppose so is SF, but for obviously different reasons.
As a heterosexual male, I choose San Francisco.
