#1 has to be Gary Indiana. The entire city is a wasteland.

NYC should also be up here. Tenements for miles in poor areas. Massive low income housing projects. The low income areas are true slums.

Projects in the South Bronx.

East Harlem street scene.

NYC tenement diagram.

Areas of Chicago and NYC qualify, plus most/much of the following:
Camden, NJ
Cincinnati, OH
Cleveland, OH
Detroit, MI
Flint, MI
Gary, IN
Miami, FL
Newark, NJ
New Orleans, LA
Oakland, CA
St Louis, MO
Washington, DC
Youngstown, OH
Ohio tops Michigan! Buckeyes need to update the burghee to reflect its status as the Ghetto State.

Cleaned up? Most buildings have been rehabilitated, but who do you think occupies them?
It went from the worst place in America to just another bad neighborhood.

The places I've seen with my own eyes I would say Gary and Camden.

The worst places in the US that I've seen personally have been parts of Detroit and parts of the west-side of Chicago, both of which look like they've been shelled
I get really angry about how as a nation we've allowed some of these slums to fester over the years, I find it inexcusable.

Those buildings look really nice, it's just a shame that people can let it go to s***. The East Harlem pic looks like it was taken in Iraq.
Do you have any pics of Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn?

Nice? Housing projects and tenements? Both were made for the poor using the cheapest materials possible. Tenements are horrible, which is why so many in NYC were razed. Housing projects were supposd to be a miracle, but we all know how that turned out. Brownstones are nice looking, but they don't make them anymore becuase the materials used wear out over time.
A few ghetto shots of Bed-stuy, Brooklyn:

No, it's actually from 04 or 05. Around Pleasant Ave where they tore down this huge abandonded factory. It was a haven for junkies.
I could be wrong, could be a picture that looks like the area I am thinking of. Same old though.
Here are some more shots of East Harlem from this year just in case:
