according to GQ, Boston is the worst dressed city, but It does have amazing shopping, might be slightly better than San Fran though.

I wanna go for a long weekend soon, but my wife says there is nothing to do in SF.

Most shops in that area are open till 8 or 9, with extended holiday hours that sometimes go until midnight.
All the bars will stay open till 2, most restaurants are open until 10 with many staying open later.
You'll find people out and about around Union Square until at least 2am and a bit afterwards.
I went on google and located dozens of new-age, power-crystal type shops and bookstore in NYC. If that's any indication of a hippie spirit doing alive and well...

That is because SF is the Mecca, just like all muslims do not actually live in Mecca...not all hippies now reside in SF, they were priced out or were forced to get a job and morphed into bohemian bourgeoisie. Those tech booms were too good to pass up, plus many made more than could be made in a lucrative co op fair trade farm in the real estate boom. I am also speaking about the metro itself, not necessarily just SF proper. There are still hippie communes in the hills out there you know?
