Camden NJ averages about 50/per 100k per year.
he's ignorant to homicide RATES. he posted the total number of homicides in la last year (297) in another thread and tried to pass that off as la's homicide RATE and tried to show that it was higher than new orleans (175).

This sort of doesn't qualify but here goes it. El Paso. When you look across the river into Mexico, you see some of the scariest, poorest looking neighborhoods you'll ever see.

Juarez. You can't point to anything quite like it except perhaps Miami in the 1980's (think Scarface)... but basically Juarez even beats that. Murder rates: Juárez deadlier than Miami in '80s - El Paso Times

it could be closer than we think. i'd say it's a lot closer than people think. ne/se dc had about 150,000 people and over 300 of the city's murders in 1991. that's a murder rate of 200+ per 100,000, which was 70 points higher than juarez was the last time i saw its murder rate at 130 per 100,000.

juarez didn't have the wealth that miami has. there's really no developed side to juarez. it's like an oversized little haiti whereas miami still had a developed side to offset the crime stats.

Miami and DC were bad but Juarez is on another level. Massacres, decapitated and dismembered bodies left in the middle of the street, bodies with their faces cut off, piles of body parts stacked in public squares, people dropped in barrels of acid, full scale gunbattles with the police and military, anyone who speaks out publicly against the cartels has a good chance of ending up dead (their family members too), they have tons of corrupt cops/military/officials on their side, they have heavy machine guns, rocket launchers, etc, and they even have homemade armored vehicles...that's Juarez and other parts of Mexico during the current drug war. It's not just a few neighborhoods per city, as in the US...its taken over entire parts of the country and is much more violent in any case. There's also the unsolved murders of hundreds to thousands women in Juarez. Miami and DC have never come close to that level of violence.

Imagine how much of what happens in Juarez goes unreported.

YOU SAID "HOMICIDE RATES" IN POST #116!!!!
http://www.city-data.com/forum/city-...oblems-12.html

and then you said "they're all as bad as each other," which is another statement ignorant to the facts put forth annually by the fbi.

p.s. i don't need to live in the ghetto to state documented facts.
