You're not getting it.
Why would I include southern states when I first mentioned the "Mid-Atlantic" by lumping it with New England? You caught me off guard by choosing states from the (entire) Mid-Atlantic region in which you prefer over many "SE states"... VA, MD, and WV, being SE states.
again those states are not in the SE they are mid atlantic,

Anyway, I originally said "you think the average person from TN/NC/TX are going to pick the NORTH EAST" When you said I prefer some mid atlantic states over some SE states, I was assuming you meant the Mid-Atlantic region in the North East to prove a point.
that is not exactly what you said, but anyday, it might be what you meant.

VA, MD, and WV are not in the North East. Basically, you did contradict yourself and you proved my point that the average Texan wouldn't pick the NE.. WHICH IS TOTALLY FINE.
They are definately not in the north east, but they are definately not in the south east either. I have never contradicted myself. You said mid atlantic states, I picked mid atlantic states, then you changed it to the NE and then you tell me I contradicted myself? you are funny .
And I am not from Texas, why would you think I am an average Texan? you have proven nothing pal. All it shows is that I like MD, WV, and VA. I also love GA and NC.
Southern hospitality tends to be a myth when you are not a conservative or a christian.
How are Christian Conservatives treated in the northeast? What you are talking about only happens in small towns in the south, really. Most of the cities are rather liberal.

Its pretty much a private affair in the Northeast. People belong to their various churches or sometimes a Jewish temple, and otherwise pretty much leave everyone else alone.
Generally, people respect other people's religions much more than they used too, even attending other church services than their own (Christians). People do not necessarily agree with other religions, but they tend to at least respect them and keep quiet about their differences.
Which is why I get annoyed here on CD when I see people bad mouthing religions. I mean whats the point? Are you just trying to hurt other people?
If you don't agree with a religion, thats fine. But keep your yap shut and stop trying to hurt other people.
Sweet tea, Peaches, chicken wings, civil rights history, confederate state flag, pine trees vs. Gumbo, French, catholics, Napoleonic code, revelion, carnival, gris-gris, Spanish
Hmmm, what sounds more southern to the average person?
Mobile has a blend of all of that. It's also the birthplace of Mardi Gras.
I often hear people from Mobile compare it to New Orleans. IMO, outside of history and a small amount of architecture Mobile and New Orleans are like night and day. Mobile was the first capital of Louisiana and even founded by the same people, but Mobile didn't receive the same immigrant stock as New Orleans. Also Mobile was under British rule for most of it's early existence. New Orleans was Spanish ruled for the majority of it's existence up until the Louisiana Purchase. Mobile never had a chance to develop the Creole/French/Spanish cultures that N.O. did and developed more of those "stereotypical" traits that are considered "southern". It just so happens to retain some of the traits/customs from its beginning. This adds uniques to the area, but the comparisons to N.O. tend to be overrated IMO. Honestly Galveston would probably make for a better comparison if only do to topography and creole/cajun migration. People point out the architecture similarities, but those architecture types don't make up the majority of N.O. and I don't think that they make up the majority of Mobile. Mobile may have held the first Carnival celebration in the U.S., but it's still a different celebration than the N.O. Carnival due to the cultures that both influenced it and were born from it in LA.
We might as well pick out Galveston, New Orleans, Mobile, Pensacola, Savannah, and Charleston as we can all say that they have similarities, but up close the similarities really aren't the similar.

Well I'm not trying to say Mobile is exactly like New Orleans, I'm just saying it has a blend of the things you mentioned. But yeah, the stereotypical "Southern" culture does dominate the Creole culture.
