Both Cities are way cool for different reasons, but I like Montreal BEST

Montreal - Many restaurants are "Apportez Votre Vin" with no corkage fees!

Montreal - The only place in North America (besides the rest of Quebec) with a dominating French language and culture over English.

The best restaurants ever in Montreal: 1. La Prunelle 2. Pied de Cochon 3. L'Express

Bixi Bikes!

Au Pied de Cochon is really amazing, one of my favorite places to eat. L'Express I have always found underwhelming though, but to each his own.

The no corkage fee is really great, the lack of BYOB (except under the radar) in Boston is a real draw back.

Agreed on the Bixi Bike system, cant wait for it to debut in Boston early next year.

Yeah, the corkage fees (in Ottawa, Ontario just across the river from me) just drive me nuts. I mean, what's the point of BYO if it ends up costing you the same?

Bringing a different wine they might not have in their cellar? Maybe...

^^^^^
A guest at La Prunelle described the French tradition of "Apportez Votre Vin" in French:

My translation: "This restaurant makes excellent food; they reserve their time for the food and the preparation; they don't have time to be the connaisseur of the wine; that's left up to you. La Prunelle sells no alcohol; you MUST bring your own, so why would we charge you for it".

Let's hope this MONTREAL tradition lives on!
