Well in college recruiting, California, Texas, and Florida are always known as the big 3. These three states have been the states leading the way for the past 20 years.

Now per capita, you can tell the South is where the majority of the talent comes from.

Louisiana surprises me. Most players per capita by far.

Yeah the South has 8 states on the list. Yeah I've always heard about football being big in Texas, after doing high school here I can see why, and also going to school here in Austin (UT) really showed me how much the people around me deeply care about it. Its pretty cool.

I've heard so much about football and Florida, especially the Gators! And Florida's top football schools.

Apparently Pennsylvania is about quality more than quantity. Only Texas (27) has more players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame than Pennsylvania (26).

I think my math is correct:

Population per NFL player (includes females)

1) Louisana 66,000
2) Alabama 94,000
3) South Carolina 99,000
4) Florida 105,000
5) Georgia 125,000
6) Ohio 135,000
7) Texas 137,000
8) Virginia 158,000
9) New Jersey 158,000
10) California 175,000
11) Michigan 188,000
12) North Carolina 218,000
13) Pennsylvania 225,000
14) Illinois 309,000

I think per capita it goes Louisiana, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida and then Ohio.

Edit: You beat me to it, I was going just from glancing at populations and players and didn't do the math so I missed Georgia.
