The fact that more people voted for NOLA over Miami says a lot about the average American.
Honestly the average American is pretty boring. And the 50 year old is not going to care much for club night life. Miami has a HUGe amount of International Tourist and they love Miami. And Yes OF COURSE NYC has more international tourist I do not know why anyone is comparing the two. How can a city almost 4 times the size of Miami be compared with it? Lets also not forget New York is basically the Capital of the world. Of course they get more international tourist. But Miami has a lot too. Even more then LA.

I am not saying Miami has a better overall nightlife then NYC. But in nightclubs Miami is ahead of any US city by far. Honestly I dont see this as an opinion with all the traveling I have done, all the people I have met from all over the world its pretty much fact. That ranking also underestimates Miami. Mynt, Wall and Mokai are arguably among the best/"hardest to get in" clubs in South Beach (certainly better than Cameo) and they are not even on the list. Don't forget Prive/Opium which now closed but used to be another awesome club.
Then you have lounges and super exclusive places like Delano.
Not to mention, I have been to that place Cielo in the Meat Packing District in NY and it is a **** hole where you can get in with a group of all guys (something that would never happen in SoBe where you have to have more hot women then men in a group) and as you walk in they search everybody for weapons. Talk about trashy. I can't believe it would be ranked 5th.

I AGREE with that. And I have been saying that, I even said that in the post above. New York does have the best overall nightlife in the country. But New York City does not have the best nighclubs in the US. If you want to have that european nightclub type of night its MIAMI!
1) NYC- IT has it all, the city that never sleeps- It's the clear winner.
2) Las Vegas- Casino's and other attractions/clubs.
3) Miami- The clubs are hot
4) New Orleans- I personally think Atlanta could replace NO
