Obviously he isn't going to look up every store and restaurant that DC has and Seattle doesn't. There are loads or them.

DC is an alpha- world city while Seattle is Beta- along with likes of Bratislava, Almaty, and Nicosia.

DC is a top 10 global city while Seattle doesn't even make the list.
DC is one of the 15 most most powerful cities on earth, Seattle doesn't even make the list.
DC is one of the top 30 most powerful cities on the planet, Seattle doesn't make the list.
DC is one of the top 10 wealthiest cities in the world, Seattle isn't even on the list.
DC is the 8th most competitive city in the world, Seattle is number 29.

Simply put, DC is an extremely important world city, while Seattle is a relatively isolated regional town. The comparison really isn't even fair. Seattle should be compared with Cleveland, Denver, or Minneapolis. Not DC.

I don't disagree...but that makes DC a target for Al Queda ISIS, etc. DC's been hit once and I expect the next one to be much much worse....unfortunately.

It's probably because Washington D.C. don't really have that many more upscale stores than Seattle so you answer the question with an answer to a question never asked of course Washington D.C. the c capitol of the U.S.A. has more power than Seattle I was asking about shopping.

Ok so anger instead of honesty Seattle does have major department stores including the flagship Nordstrom . I only brought it up because I looked at list of upscale stores downtown D.C. And Seattle can match them and so much more . But it's ok there is only half dozen cities in the USA that there downtowns never died. NY, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco , Seattle and Portland.

Really the Pike Place Market has over 10 million visitors a year . Washington DC is great for museums and that's about it .
