I hate to say this and I know better but all you read on CD about Philadelphia blacks is always negative. Shootings, killings, drugs, ghetto living, dog fighting etc.

Is it just me, or am I the only African American male who feels as though the whole "black mecca" argument is a bit dated? I do enjoy cities with a strong hip hop and r&b culture, but do they really have to be "black cities" in order to have those things? IMO, the cities that have evolved beyond to need to be the next (insert any race) mecca are the ones with the brightest futures.

It is indeed a bit dated as many cities have attracted Blacks, particularly educated middle-class Blacks, over the past few decades beyond the usual suspects. But I don't think any city is really trying to be that these days.

I do, but I'm fine with any sizable metro with a noticeable Black population.
