yup, someone else made that claim in another thread. most of the black persons i know from n.y.c. have african-american roots. most of my family and friends in montreal, boston, miami parents come from caribbean, cap-verde, ...

maybe because n.y.c. has a lot of everything, the perception is that its mostly immagrants ?

^ yeah, i agree... especially weird were the louis farrakhan and malcolm x references who are actually from boston ?
a lot of the comments were pointing out that its nothing like that now and we tend to reminisce on the past with rose colored glasses.
