Your last comment is nuts, especially with regards to Hollywood Boulevard. The Walk of Fame is known the world over. Millions of tourists from all over the world flock to it (and the Chinese Theater, where the stars leave their handprints) every year. Bourbon Street doesn't have anywhere near that kind of fame.
Not true

Houston is known for its medical center (largest in the World), theater district (2nd in size only to NYC), Seaport (largest foreign shipping port in the US), & Galleria (largest mall in Texas).

Houston is also known for its arts & diverse culture.

The annual Houston Livestock & Rodeo is the largest of its kind & draws quite a crowd.

Last, but not least Houston is known for NASA. Houston was, after all, the first world spoken from the Moon!

You're welcome, its us Northeasterners and Europeans that put Miami on the map and its our money that fuels what minimal economy you have. Do you really think a place like Miami can spur 22 billionaires on its own back? Those are former NY/NJ businessmen that enjoy the snowless winters of south Florida.

What a shame. Florida is a great state that Miami doesn't deserve to be in.
Northeasterners love Miami and at the same time whine about how much it's not like the Northeast. Miami's is one of the youngest large cities in the US, it really hasn't had a chance from an economic standpoint, yet enjoys an Alpha city status. Only city I know of that can achieve that, in-spite of it's lack of an economy, crime, poverty, size, lack of ANY sort of culture, lack of ANY sort of history etc. What's even more amazing is people's classification of different Latino cultures, and how everyone treats them as one homogenous group. That's where Miami get's hit hard the most as far as it's "lack of diversity".

Houston has a lot to offer, its cleaner air quality than LA, better economy, more affordable prices, and higher income come to mind also amenities for a large city it does lack tourist spots. San Jacinto, Battleship Texas, the Galleria, Kemah, the Strand aren't anything spectacularly unique.
Did you know the San Jacinto Monument is about 12 feet taller than the Washington DC monument?

You have to take into account it's global banking status. Among the largest collection of foreign banks in the nation. Poverty driven?

The average American does not know what TMC is, don't know about the theater district, or the port.

You guys aren't doing Houston any favors by constantly bringing up that galleria. Seriously it's...a...mall. The other stuff is really cool, especially Houston's diversity. Most global cities are noted for being magnets for various ethnic groups all over the world. That's a good sign.

The Galleria is a mall period. It's not the Mall of America. I've been to the Galleria. It wasn't that impressive. Century City Mall in LA is just as impressive (i.e. not much). It has the exact same stores and similar restaurants.

I've never heard of the livestock fest or rodeo.

The Port is big. Big deal. It's not a tourist attraction.

The beaches are not that convenient. Plus, they are disgusting. Galveston versus Santa Monica or Malibu. Galveston versus Margate or Ventnor. Come on now.

The Port of Houston offers a thorough 90 minute long FREE boat tour through the harbor which many people take all the time therefore its a tourist attraction.

It was named a "Best of Houston" winner in 2010.

You should give it a shot next time you're in H-town.

I would reply to Nexor67 second statement but seems like he erased his post. I can see you just hate Miami. Miami has a huge diversity of restuarants, its airport is one of the best in the nation. The brand new North Terminal and South Terminal. What in the world is a unguarded airplane propeller? Miami is an aviation mecca one of the most important aviation cities in the world. Two huge cruise ship ports, two very large cargo ports, home to sothern command, national hurricane center, hundreds of companies have their Latin America region HQ's in Miami like Sony, Disney, Fed Ex, American Airlines, Microsoft. Miami is a big entertainment city too especially for Latin Music and TV. Miami is what LA is to Spanish TV.
