SanDiego is a nice city and its economy is based on tourism and military if it wasn't a nice city it wouldn't get no tourist ive never ben there but its common sense.Seattle is a nice city also with a more diversified economy. Both cities have pros and cons they appeal to differnt kind of people . Just depends on person and there desires and needs.

Defense and manufacturing are SD's two largest economic segments followed by tourism. And I'm still waiting to see evidence of your absurd statement that 50% of the workforce is dependent on tourism from LA.

if you have never been there, then how would you know about San Diego's workforce? SD has a large Biotech industry as well. Research what you're talking about before making such absurd statements. If SD and LA aren't real cities, then I guess mostly every city in America isn't either like Phoenix, San Antonio, Houston, Las vegas, Miami, etc. Try to live in America without all these cities. Every sunbelt/sprawled city helps define America. You take any of them out and it's just not the same. By saying the rude, ignorant, false statements you are saying about cities like LA and SD, you are labeling millions of people who live in these so called "fake cities".

So what does it say what type of city Seattle is given the Sonics ALREADY left for OKLAHOMA CITY? And they are doing better in OKC than they were in Seattle.
Could you possibly say something more ignorant of the facts than this?
The Sonics leaving Seattle had nothing to do with fan support. If you study the situation other than the the headlines in OKC you'd know that. David Stern is a lying snake. And as to them drawing well in OKC, the team, which was built in Seattle, is winning.
Seattle is a much larger market, and if they were winning, they'd be selling out in Seattle too. There's 40 years of history to prove that. They were several years when Seattle actually led the NBA in attendance. But don't let the facts stand in the way of a good argument.
And speaking of lost NBA teams, how bout them Rockets?
As for Seattle supporting teams, if you care to look up the facts, the M's draw well still, despite being a terrible team. The Hawks sell out, The Seattle Sounders are drawing record crowds. They have completely obliterated attendance records and have set a new gold standard in soccer.
And before you shrug off the MLS, the MLS is out drawing the NBA and the NHL on a per game basis.
And Seattle is blowing away every team in the MLS. They are drawing 36k every game. The next highest team draws 21k. And in fact, Seattle is drawing double the number of fans as all but 4 other franchises almost doubling NY as well.
Seattle may have a higher proportion of academics, but San Diego is definitely no slouch.
San Diego is a very brainy city-2nd only to San Francisco when it comes to educational attainment at the Bachelor and Graduate level among California's largest cities, and the city's % of college degrees is well above the national average.
The Academic Ranking of World Universities, which ranks Universities solely on academics and their research institutions named UC San Diego the 15th best University in the world. Top Universities in the World, 2010

You're "right". Seattle is certainly "less dense" than either LA or San Diego.

To the OP..Reading through your post it sounds like you belong in Seattle;you sound burnt out on California. San Diego and Orange County are very much alike in almost all categories except for CBD. San Diego has Gas Lamp and some nice coastal high rises but as you know the general layout and scenery is pretty interchangable with OC. I give San Diego the edge for outdoor activities between OC and SD.
I have friends who have left So. Cal to places like Bellview and Queen Ann and with very little exception they all love it. The ONLY real draw back when it comes to Seattle for me is the cloud
cover and rain. I can't take that for long periods of time.
Here is my personal opinion on these two..
Economic outlook.. Seattle
nightlife/dining/shopping..Seattle
scenery..tie
urban..Seattle
Education..Seattle
outdoor activities..Seattle minus access to better surfing
weather..San Diego+++
..I like SD better..but it's pretty hard for me to make a case that either city is ultimatly superior since it is often generally subjective decision..
