Some unique "city smells" I've experienced....

Keokuk, IA: Corn syrup factory

Pekin, IL: Something similar, thought I was back in Keokuk...

Macon, MO: Con-Agra (Banquet) Pie factory (yumm!)

Burlington, IA: Cookie factory (YUMMM!!)

Columbia, MO: Small Quaker Oats facillity (I went past the BIG one in Cedar Rapids once, but don't remember the smell...)

Of course I've been around some BAD ones, but I guess I've blocked them out....

hehehe sounds like a world of pure imagination lol Willy Wonka must have moved to Chicago now, or you live near the Snickers factory or M&M's...it's no wonder Chicago has such high crime...people must love breaking into those factories

Dundalk, Md ~ The waste water treatment facility

Hunt Valley, MD ~ This all depends on what McCormick is doing that day but sometimes what they are cooking smells nasty. But when they do the baking spices like cloves and cinnamon then it's good.

Philadelphia. Smells of urine and homeless people. Although I lived there and like the city it is stinky, expecially in the summer.

Default NOLA Smell

Yeah, Pre-K I would have put NOLA up as well. Since Katrina, the City has contracted with a new waste management company. I must say that they have done an excellent job in the Quarter. They are even spraying the sidewalks and streets with some kind of scented wash. Its funny, the "garbage men" have become celeberties(sp) here, people are stopping to give them compliments and thumbs up. We have the happiest sanitation workers in the world right now.

Mobile, AL (paper mill) at night is hideous. I'd also throw in Troy, NY and Staten Island.
