How is San Francisco underrated? It is largely considered to be one of the most urban and vibrant cities in the country, and people recognize that it has a very good nightlife.

It is not considered a top-tier nightlife city, and it shouldn't be. Top-tier nightlife cities are: NYC, Miami, and Vegas. San Francisco is in the category below that, along with Chicago, Boston, DC, etc.

This thread is about cities that are truly underrated--Pittsburgh is an excellent example.

Miami is not top tier nightlife. Miami Beach and North Miami and Sunny Isles have way less bars/restaurants/clubs than SF and Chicago.

That's pretty much it unless you head over to Fort Worth.

Houston? D.C.? San Fran? NY? LA? ATL? Philly?

It seems like most of the cities people have named so far are atleast somewhat known for having good night life, and even if they arent, they're big enough to where you'd expect something to be going on.

For TRULY underated, I'd have to go with somewhere like Birmingham. With it being in Alabama, I'm sure several people would
write it off completely as some "nothin" or "backwoods" town but with a metro of over 1 million there are some nice clubs and bars there.

Louisville as mentioned earlier was a nice choice too.
