I was wondering for people who live in areas where there are two teams for some or all of the 4 major league sports, do sports fans generally support both teams or just one over the other. Most of my friends are A's fans but probably close to or more than half have been rooting for the Giants in these playoffs while myself and others haven't. They used to make baseball caps with half Giants and half A's logos after the 89 World Series. When it comes to football, people either are Niners or Raiders fans and usually don't root for the other team but will still watch the other teams game but not care too much if they win or lose. I was just curious what it's like in other areas with multiple teams in the same major league sport. Do people support both unless they play each other? Or support one throughout no matter what? Do Mets fans support the Yankees in the World Series? Giants and Jets? White Sox/Cubs? Dodgers/Angels?
I am a die hard White Sox fan, and nothing pleases me more than seeing the Cubs loose. I would never, ever root for the Cubs. Every White Sox fan I know has this mentality as well.
Sox fans hate the Cubs, and Cubs fans don't remember that the Sox exist.
When the Sox won the World Series, most Cubs fans were indifferent. From talking to my friends who are Sox fans though, if the Cubs were in the world series - they would actively hope a bomb exploded at the stadium.
alot of mets fans hate the yankees with the same intensity of a boston redsox fan
Anytime I see their name/think about them I cringe! Can't stand them. I love when I'm at home games and see like 2 people with Boston Jerseys and every time anything happens to Boston the crowd boo/yell at them. Lol So immature but that's what we do. . . NYY*
Furthermore, I'm a die hard Yankees fan and I honestly don't see The Mets (Both literal and metaphorically, I just don't pay them attention). Even if they were to win the Worlds Series, I just wouldn't care. They are in my city but meh, not my team. There are a lot of Mets fans in NYC though as well.

^ I'm with him. LOL Cubs
My friend just showed me this a while back:
-Things That Have Happened Since The Cubs Have Won A World Series-
"Radio was invented; Cub fans got to hear their team lose. TV was invented; Cub fans got to see their team lose. Baseball added 14 teams; Cub fans got to see AND hear their team lose to more teams."
White sox fans talk about the cubs more then they talk about the white sox.
Cub fans don't hate the sux.
But they do get annoying.
I wear white sox apparel to match and I like the colors.
But I'm a cubs fan.
Been to wrigley since I was a kid like a couple dozen times.
Been to a sox game once.
