I did a quick Google search and despite Raleigh having a bit better dance club selection and more college bars, Charlotte's nightlife is definitely more classy. I didn't see anything in Raleigh that can match places like Suite and Butter.

Raleigh might have more clubs for college age kids, but then again me personally I would take Charlotte's nightlife any day. Even when I was in college at NC state the last thing I would want to do at night is be around a bunch of drunk college kids or fraternity types. I guess those who are into it are plenty satisfied in Raleigh. Charlotte has more variety imo.

Charlotte also has some good spots for creative class types. I don't know what it's like in raleigh but i remember going to a club called home in charlotte don't know if it was still open but it was pretty cool. There are also spots in Plaza-Midwood and NoDa so even though I'm sure Raleigh can match this, I don't know that it beats Charlotte although I don't know honestly. Like I said I feel that Charlotte has more variety imo.

See that's what gets me about Charlotte forumers. You guys try to dismiss Raleigh as some adolescent college town. Raleigh and the entire metro has more options and a much larger and dynamic nightlife. Raleigh alone has a plethora of adult night spots. Unless you want spend most of your time hanging around Hillsborough street, the adult night scene is abundant. Raleigh by itself can go toe toe with Charlotte's nightlife, thats not counting the other TWO cities in the Triangle. I have enjoyed myself in both cities, but prefer what the Triangle has to offer.
How about comparing both cities banking industries, Charlotte's clear cut winner huh?

You are truly lying to yourself if you believe that Raleigh can go toe to toe with Charlotte on anything!! Charlottes nightlife/daylife are at another level then Raleighs!! It is not even close. I am sorry, just my opinion( and alot of other peoples).
P.S.-- Raleigh may win in the college category though--- but then again charlotte doesn't have Duke, but Raleigh doesn't have Johnson and Wales.

Well that must be your OPINION, because Raleigh has a night scene just as lively, if not more so than Charlotte's. Epicentre is awesome, but it takes more than that. Raleigh's nigtlife dowtown is broken down into districts, thats not counting all of the numerous night clubs and lounges spread throughout the city. Durham and especialy Chape hill have night scenes as well. The variety and abundance of night life in RDU outweighs the Charlotte metro sorry. Charlotte indeed offers more daytime activity however, Depending on what you are in to.

If you read my post I said A) it was my OPINION that charlotte has a more diverse nightlife and B) that each city has options in the areas such as creative class but I DON'T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT RALEIGH's options to give it the edge in any category. with that said and with what Charlotte has going for it Raleigh has it's work cut out for them to match not saying they haven't done it but look at it this way, what does Raleigh have to offer that Charlotte doesn't and what does Charlotte have that Raleigh doesn't and I'm not talking about Whole Foods or Saks Fifth avenue-so explain why Raleigh has more options and a larger and more dynamic nightlife

And don't say that my lack of knowledge on Raleigh's nightlife proves your point, unless you are going to explain what Raleigh has that Charlotte doesn't, if anything enlighten me if I cared about saving face I wouldn't admit that I don't know enough about it

Raleigh has its work cut out for it so far as office space and infrastructure downtown. Nightlife isn't an area Raleigh is lacking. There are more than enough night spots. Daytime activities in Raleigh could be a bit better. Also, just because I say daytime activities in Charlotte are better, doesn't mean Charlotte isn't lacking pretty bad as well. Both cities could stand to be much more active places during the day IMO. I think both Raleigh and Charlotte have better nightlife than Atlanta right now. Maybe not as upscale but definitely better. Atlanta's downtown is dead at night and its nightlife is too spread out. Atlanta has fell severely in this area the past couple of years, it's a known fact.
Glenwood South in Raleigh is similar to U streest in D.C. and Market Street in Philly. It's only slightly smaller than both places. Most nights you definitely will see Ferrari's, Lamborghinis, and Bentleys driving about. That's why I find many posts on here uninformed when mentioning Raleigh's nightlife. The streets are packed and clogged with luxury vehicles on Glenwood ave. The last time I heard college kids don't drive any of the above. That's only ONE district in Raleigh!
If you're into the bar scene try the Market areas and The Warehouse district. If you're apart of the older crowd (40-60) try Fayetteville st, Hargett st, Peace st, or Cameron Village. There are waaaay too many hole in the wall and underground (Some litarally) clubs in Raleigh to name. The city is a completely different animal Thurs-Sun nights.
Oh yeah, the college kids have Hillsborough street! Many aren't allowed in most night club or lounge establishments, so they have their own thing going on there.
