Obviously Charlotte for me (that's why I moved here), for larger area, sports, shopping options, museums, lakes, downtown, restaurants.....

I'm going with Charlotte. I love Raleigh-Durham as well but Raleigh has a way to go before it catches up with Charlotte in amenities.

Both metros are similar in a lot of ways. Charlotte has a larger city feel due to its downtown area, while Raleigh is much more spread out. Both metro areas consist primarily of low density suburban development. Charlotte has more of a corporate feel and is more uptight, while Raleigh is younger and has more of a visible creative class. I voted Charlotte because its still in a tier above Raleigh, and it weathered the banking crisis quite well considering its magnitude. I believe Charlotte has learned a lesson and is beginning to diversity its economy.
