Just read an old thread with this comparison, which got shut down for containing rampant homerism... from both sides.
I thought it was an interesting comparison, Orlampa (5.5 million) is almost the same size as metro Atlanta (5.8 million) by combining both, how do they stack up?

I know for a fact, Orlando has nice areas. Haven’t spent time in Tampa Like that. But I’m sure it offers the same. I don’t think Atlanta should blow these away in offerings if looked at as a central Florida region, instead of separately. Thoughts?
Well, Orlando and Tampa are two very different cities.. With that said, you are talking two major metro areas versus one single metro area, with population put aside, the amenities and offerings offered by both Orlando and Tampa combined pretty much blows Atlanta out of the park.. No contest there..
If you're linking both Tampa/St. Petersburg AND Orlando metros, there's simply no comparison. Orlampa for sure. Per capita, that would rank as one of the top 3 in the nation in terms of total recreational assets.

If you search the archives, this comparison was done in 2014. In that thread, I believe it was just the Orlando and Tampa metros. I was just calling it central Florida because that’s the region that couches the two.

Orlando and Tampa has been compared for years here on C-D, it is a natural comparison seeing the close proximity of both metros and subsequent tug of war for regional power.. IMHO, over the last decade Orlando has come out the strongest as the more successful, more vibrant, and faster growing metro.. Orlando is actually leading the entire state of Florida in population growth, job growth, and development..
mark my words, Orlampa will be the Atlanta of the 21st century. Orlampa will be 10 million people within 50 years. Barring hurricanes or some kind of immigration disaster, NOTHING is going to stop it.
As much as I hate Orlando, I loved living there. Same with Tampa.
