To me all of NJ is a suburb of either NYC or Philly. As I hate suburbs and the mentality that goes with them I choose PA. Also Pittsburgh is one of my all time favorite cities so that helps. I also lived in PA once upon a time so it feels like a home away from home for me. Nothing against NJ in general, I have spent time there. It just wasn't my cup of tea. I much preferred NYS or PA.

No place in Pennsylvania south/east of Blue Mountain is "lily-white."

Okay we're making some progress here. The first step toward recovery is admitting you have a problem and we're making headway.

The next step is this: when you find the next NJ vs. ____ thread, quietly turn off your computer and take deep breaths. I know it's hard, but it's the only way you'll get better...

I'd figure the next step would be to stop talking to him so he'll stop responding. It's pretty simple.

I stand corrected on diversity I guess (and I wasn't trying to insult/stereotype sorry). I was thinking purely in terms of the Cherry Hill, Voorhees, etc. area. And yes, for the record, I have been offered calenders, menorahs, dreidels, and other things in random places like grocery stores.

I chose NJ for reasons (besides the obvious home affiliation) that include being stationed there (Tobyhanna Army Depot).

When compared to being near Philly it was like an entirely different country (almost as polar as NNJ/SNJ). It caused me to come to this conclusion:

NJ's lack of a 'super-city' forces NNJ to function as a fractured regional city (w/ Nwk/JC as urban hubs)
Whereas the gravity of PA's supercity means as you push further out the contrast is obvious

I don't particularly like either option

That's been tried many times in the past (we've quite literally dealt w/ him for years now), I'm doing this for him

Don't worry though, we're getting there

Haha I know man.

I wish Camden was to Philly what Arlington or Bethesda are to DC. Sometimes I just don't feel like going over the bridge. And Atlantic City would be sick if it had more high rise condos like Miami.

This always surprised me too, b/c while it does have condos, you would think there would be more off the beaten path (B'walk). As you get away from the casinos it starts getting empty...

I'm glad they built the Walk at the mouth of the AC Epwy (instead of getting off the Epwy and having deserted land and parking lots it's now a nice sizable shopping district). But yet AC's metro grows and AC itself shrinks...

U obviously didnt read the rest of the post.

And this is not a philly vs ny threa. Thats just stupid. Its a new jersey state vs pa state thread.

Why would someone make a thread like this if they thought philly and nyc(the biggest city in the USA) comparisons were going to be considered. There would be no hope for PA if your going to take all the positives of new jersey state, along with the behemoth that is NYC. I dont think think the op was going for all that. Who cares where njersians commute to-NYC EXIST ACROSS A RIVER FROM THE STATE OF NJ,IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK

He/she was simply comparing nj to PA in which nj clearly loses considering PA residents dont have to go out of state to be in worldclass cities(philly, pittsburgh)
