DC is very geeky. Not known as a trendy or fashion-forward town.

DC is def not geeky. DC is one of the most type-A cities in the country. and yes hipsters can be geeky.

Seattle, San Jose, San Francisco...its between those 3.

Nobody believes that you're tough. You should stop trying so hard.

Going to have to go with Seattle, not just computer geeks but geeks in general...

SJ as geeky as it is has too many type A's looking to make a quick buck in the startup world, all the venture capital type a's. Plus it is in California in which you'll still seen lots of ferraris / lamborghinis/ etc. You have fun in the sun activities and the whole BRO scene still. The tech scene in SJ isn't exactly laid back/geeky. It is cut throat and mature now, much like wall street in finance.

Seattle is remote from mainstream USA, weather conductive to book worm inside activities, coffee snobs, high LGBT etc.

Even the big shot CEO's are much different in their geekiness look at Bill Gates vs Steve Jobs. Jobs is an ego maniac, Wozniak was the geek. Larry Ellison is also an ego maniac Gates is also just a rich nerd.

SF is also much more concerned with fashion and image than Seattle.

Portland has computer geeks and the largest concentration of comic book creators outside of New York.
