How come central nc gets all the new innovative development? Seriously NC jumps all over Ga for just catering to Atlanta but what's make a difference if all the economic development is going cities central nc.

You do know companies get less incentives when they wanna relocate to the Charlotte region for one. Why because Charlotte is a powerhouse as it it and the state is trying to redistribute that economic wealth elsewhere in the state. I would think by your posts in the NC forum that you would know this but I guess you didn't do any reasearch.

That is an interesting article. It seems Georgia will soon be leading NC in both growth and GDP. I wonder how long both will be able to sustain that kind of growth.

I believe that historically, Georgia has been a bit ahead of NC in that respect. These days they are a lot more neck and neck.

Very interesting. If you look back even further, you will see that NC and Georgia have swapped places several times on the population list.

1790: NC was the third most populous state in the country and had almost five times the population of Georgia.
NC: 393,000
GA: 82,000

1850: A decade before the Civil War, Georgia had grown faster and was larger than NC for the first time
GA: 906,000
NC: 869,000

1930: After about 80 years of Georgia being larger, they swapped again. Maybe the textiles and tobacco in North Carolina?
NC: 3.17 million
GA: 2.908 million

2000: Another 70 years with NC on top, and then Georgia retakes the lead
GA: 8.186 million
NC: 8.049 million

So these two states have been swapping places every 60 or 80 years since the birth of the US.

Yeah, but I think Georgia will be creating a gap over the next 5 years as Atlanta's goes through it's next economic expansion. When Atlanta booms, it doesn't play.

NC won't exactly be standing still though, so I wouldn't be so quick to say that.
