As far as the urban life is considered? Which city has the most characteristics that Los Angeles has when it comes to the L.A urban lifestyle?

There really is no other major US city outside California that reminds me of West LA..You could blind fold me and send me to any neighborhood in West LA, and I would know for sure that I was in Los Angeles. For better or worse it has it's very own vibe, feel and unique scenery. Parts of it feel close to San Diego,Vegas,Phoenix and even somewhat Denver..but not like any Eastern or midwest city..The Valley,IE, and East LA feel like Phoenix or Albq.

No city in America is completely like L.A., demographically speaking. However, in terms of urban layout, I'd say that Phoenix is closest.

Many people don't realize it, but L.A., as well as Phoenix, though suburban in nature, are very densely built regions. Houses are practically right beside each other, with little in the way of big lots. Metro L.A. and Phoenix, on average, are much more dense than metro Boston, Washington, D.C., and dare I even say New York City (when suburbs are considered).

Demographically, Houston is probably closest.

Demographically, Houston.

Culturally, Phoenix...??

Physically, maybe Phoenix again.
