The area I live in votes Republican nearly every single time. Here my friends and I openly talk about what we like and don't like (nothing racist) but in particular about dating.
I have a White friend who only dates White women, he will tell people that when they ask him that and he has done so, Black and Hispanic people are respectful of his preferences.
I have a Black friend who only dates White women, he tells people that and other than some Black people calling him a sellout, most other people can care less who he dates or doesn't date.
Well I have stayed in a blue area but never lived there for a long time. In a more liberal area like lets say NYC, if someone asks me if I would date a Black girl and I say no, is that going to start a ruckus?
Boston is about as "blue" as you can get, but you'd be surprised how un-PC most of the locals are. People tell it like it is, which causes arguments, but IMO it's better to be honest and get your opinions out there.
As far as dating, date whoever you want. I don't see it being a problem to say "I only date white/black women" as long as you aren't saying the other women are inherently unpleasant.
In the DC area, nobody gives a flying freak who you date or don't. I can't think of anything that will turn heads or surprise most people. It's all been done and seen.
BTW, why do you need to announce your dating preferences to people?
It's a good school, very good. The town is quite progressive - a little uptight in a left-wing kind of uptightness, but you won't find much small-mindedness here either.

Wait, so if it is uptight are you saying political correctness is kind of a big deal?
