Here are my 5 with short explanations:

1. New Jersey: Very crowded, really high cost of living, pollution problems, and after reading Joel Stein's article on Edison I can pretty much see they don't like my kind there.

2. California: High cost of living, lots of taxes, I could live in the bay area but culturally I just cannot see myself fitting in well there. Had bad experiences there and the rest I will say later on.

3. Arkansas: Even though I am here right now, pretty soon I will be leaving this state. Great people but not much to do, not much diversity (I love Latinas, only know four that live in this whole state lol), and the higher education system isn't that great (the best university in this state is not even ranked in the top 100).

4. Mississippi: High obesity rate and my visits to the state have shown me it is very poor when compared to other southern states.

5. Alabama: Not that great of a higher education system and generally not much diversity there other than Black or White. People there do seem nice though.

Alaska: too isolated from the rest of the US, too cold for too long

Hawaii: too isolated

Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana: either too far from the coasts, and/ or too sparse.

Well first off the only states I'd live in is Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Mass., Rhode Island, and maybe Georgia.

Mississippi: Too country
Alabama: Too country
Delaware: Weird
Louisana: Too country
Wyoming: Nothing there
Utah: Weird
Montana: Nothing there
Idaho: Nothing there but potatoes
North Dakota: *yawn*
Oklahoma:
California: Earthquakes and never ending cookie cutter sprawl
Oregon: Seems kinda plain
New Mexico: Too much Desert/too hot
Arizona: Too much desert/too hot
Nevada: ehhh.....
South Carolina: Too country
Tennessee: Too close to Mississippi
Kentucky: Not my thing
Arkansas: Weird
Iowa: NO
Nebraska: Seems very plain
Colorado: Middle of nowhere, but Denver is nice
South Dakota: Too rural
Alaska: Doesn't even seem like its in America
and for the states I didn't mention I just wouldn't live there unless I had too.

I just have a question to the OP. Why is it that every thread you post in or start has something to do with "not liking your kind?" Not every state is some crazy bigoted place where people go around murdering others just because of the color of your skin. PEOPLE TOLERATE INDIANS!!!!!!!!!!!!

That said:

The only states I couldn't live in is Michigan, North Dakota, Alabama, Mississippi, and Idaho.

NY is not very crowded at all. Yes, you'll find lots of density in the NYC area, and smaller densities in the other large metros (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany), but the vast area of the state is pretty sparse. In the large chunk of the state north of the Thruway and east of Lake Ontario, it's totally rural, even backwoods in the mountainous areas. That's what I like about NY, something for everyone!
