I'd say overrated. A lot of people from Boston think Boston is the place to be and think you're crazy if you want to leave. They don't understand how flawed Boston is.

Man, you just named three cities that I suspect would generally be regarded as three of our very best cities. I guess it depends on who it is you're thinking overrates these cities. I agree that Bostonians may have too much of an attitude that anyone who wants to live anywhere else must be crazy. You encounter the same attitude in New York. I haven't dealt with enough Chicagoans to have a feel for whether that same attitude can be found there. No place is right for everyone, so, yeah, there's a problem when people who live in a city, even if it is a great city, get the idea that no place else on Earth is even worth bothering with.

Still, as I said above, it depends who is doing the rating. I get the feeling that people outside of these three cities do not overrate them, but keep things in the proper perspective, realizing that they are fine cities, but certainly not best for everyone.

Beautiful parks, thriving economy, quite a few Fortune 500 companies, inexpensive homes, etc etc. Heck I wouldn't mind living there at all.

I am still trying to Find out what makes a city over rated can someone please tell me And why do some people feel is overrated and why do some feel like its not. And its these citys are really that over rated why do people keep moving into and visiting these citys. And it seems like all the big major citys are Overrated. the only citys that arent on the list are small rural areas.

That's why they're overrated. They're not right for everyone so it's crazy to act like they're three of America's best cities. I can think of a number of reasons why those are some of the worst cities to live. The cities that should be getting respect and recognition are cities like Phoenix and Atlanta.

You could call New York overrated if there was any other city able to offer the same access to culture, entertainment and last bit not least, huge job market, for much less. The thing is, there is no other.

i dont understand why people keep saying nyc is overpriced. sure its expensive, but just because you cant afford something, that doesnt make it overpriced. nyc, IMO, is the right price for a place that has everything you could possibly need in life. if you live in nyc, you will probably never have to travel outside of the city limits to find something you want to buy. the same goes for los angeles too. these places are worth every penny IMO.
