Las Vegas and Phoenix: extremely overhyped. Actually, ludicrously overhyped.
Not in the least. I actually think Phoenix is fairly underhyped with all the bad press it receives. Las Vegas is definetly hyped up but not overhyped. I mean there is no other city in the world like Las Vegas, truly one of a kind.

Phoenix has a lot going for it and it's still one of the fastest growing US cities. Economy is great, infrastructure is improving, downtown is receiving a facelift, and actually becoming a place to see instead of one to avoid.

These are two separate categories to me.
Overrated/overhyped?- Any city in the "new south" or texas (atlanta, dallas, houston, san ant., charlotte); all of arizona and las vegas.
Overpriced? Probably san diego b/c there is not enough industry/good jobs to support the high cost of living. SF and NYC have an extremely limited amount of space, no room for significant increases in the housing supply, great high paying jobs, and a ton of cultural activities so I do not consider them "overpriced", they are just damm expensive.
I actually think a lot of the sunbelt cities are underrated especially Houston! it dosen't get the credit it deserves imo.

Virginia cities are way underrated! Arlington, Richmond, and Virginia Beach the most!

Default Yuck, Casinos

I hate the casinos too...they are supposed to jumpstart a sagging economy. I remember Atlantic City, NJ as a sorry place. Lots of bag people. People in casinos and restaurants with torn clothes and stains. Spending their last pennies. Don't they know it's all rigged for failure? That they will spend $500 to make $50? Casinos, with their dirty liquor smoking smelly stuff, who wants it.

Best scenery in the state? Eww. Sorry, but that title goes to Northeastern Texas.

For that reason and with the polluted air.

I disagree and I said as a city, it has the best scenery in the state. There isn't a city in Northeast Texas at the level of Austin and there won't be for another 100 years. But even so, I know of the little hills and tall trees in East Texas and it is very nice. But the the hill of Austin and west cannot be beat in Texas.

Austin:
