Default 50 U.S. counties and cities surpass 1 million in population
Fifty U.S. communities now have populations of more than 1 million, with Harris County edging out a county in Arizona as the fourth most-populated region of the country.
Forty-one counties and nine cities belong to the million-person club, based on estimates issued Tuesday morning by Business First.
Click here for a database with the current population estimates for 22,651 counties, cities, towns and villages across the country.
Leading the nation is Los Angeles County, Calif., with a population of nearly 9.90 million as of Feb. 1. If present trends continue, Los Angeles will pass the 10-million mark on Aug. 5, 2014, the first county ever to do so.
