People always say that africa is not important to this world but a bunch of brits are trying to take over the parts of it.
I think places like johanasburg is as important as place like boston and san francisco and cape town as important as dallas and houston
People act as if africa is a country when it is a continent and the BIGGEST continent. If there is an africa city the biggest in africa than that city can claim "The most important city in AFRICA" and the most important city in AFRICA should be as high on the list as tokyo paris new york and london.
Why does the white man make black people feel worthless about there home, Whats up with that?

Have you ever lived there. Why not try it for a year or so.

In the end, Africa is where it all started anyway.... Supposedly.

Of course not. It's a timekiller 'till mom gets dinner on the table, which she'd better do soon, before dad starts to get disgruntled.

I'm pretty sure Asia is a bigger continent than Africa, even if you discount India as its a separate continental plate.
Africa is big though and it certainly varies. Mauritius and Botswana seem to be fairly livable judging by what I've read. Senegal and Gambia apparently have fairly low murder-rates.
International Human Development Indicators - UNDP
Namibia, Cape Verde, Ghana, Mali, Tanzania, and South Africa are listed fairly good in the latest "Press Freedom Index." Botswana and Mauritius were above Greece.
Reporters sans frontières
In the "Corruption Perception Index" none of Africa seems to do well, but Botswana, Cape Verde, Mauritius, Seychelles, and South Africa seem to do better than what they list for Turkey or Italy.

I love African cities, although I understand why most people don't like them. I backpacked around for two months last year (S Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Egypt). Harare is my favorite city of the big ones. Besides Cape Town, of course.
My pictures from Harare:

Unfortunately Mugabe's antics have taken a big toll on the country. But it was still safe enough to walk around, explore, take public transit, etc.

Is the topic starter black american who has never been to Africa? Perhaps it would be better for you to read about Africa, its history and economy, or even better visit it. Places like Somalia, Kongo or even SA. But if you are black, you might not know what I mean. Maybe there is a good reason why no African city is like London or NY ;-)
