I was just talking with my sister about restaurant week here and was wondering does other cities have anything like it. There are a lot of threads speaking of overall restaurant scene but nothing about certain week/weekends. Here is a video explaining what our restaurant week basically is:

What I want to know is which cities have restaurant weeks and which do you think are the best? best food? best deals? overall experience?

NOTE: this is not for overall restaurant scene

I love that city, it really needs stabilize and become a hot spot destination again. So many great things there, unbelievable potential. Hopefully it becomes more than potential and becomes a reality.

There are actually two restaurant weeks...the "Chicago Originals" which is a smaller one in January and the official one which is this month. The deals range from 'wow that's a steal' (good luck getting a reservation) to 'are they crazy?'

I've participated in the past and for the most part have had good experiences. Though it can be complicated because my wife is vegetarian and some of the restaurant week prix fixe menus have no veggie-friendly entrees.

Chicago Restaurant Week 2011

Chicago Originals - Independent, locally-owned restaurants

I've been to Cyrano's Bistro, Kiki's Bistro, Trattoria Roma, Rhapsody and Brasserie Jo (which has since closed for re-branding) during restaurant week. Probably won't be participating this year since I have at least 10 Groupons I need to use soon.

Are you going to check out any places in Detroit? I like how they have a spring and a fall edition. Assuming that the participating restaurants have menus with seasonal ingredients, it sounds like a cool twist on the restaurant week idea.

Yea I think thats why they do it twice a year. To give the restaurants a chance to showcase seasonal dishes.

I will be attending this year. Its coming up in April. Does the Chicago RW have a set price? or is it different prices for each restaurant? does RW only include downtown restaurants? Here its a set price of $28 I believe and participating restaurants are in Downtown, Midtown, New Center and the Eastern Market

I'd like to come to Chicago's RW one year

Cleveland has two:

1) Downtown Cleveland Restaurant Week (Feb 21-27, 2011) Cleveland Food and Brews - Food: Downtown Cleveland Restaurant Week: February 21-27, 2011

2) Cleveland Restaurant Week (Nov) Cleveland Restaurant Week is on through Nov. 14: Restaurant Row | cleveland.com

Personally, I love that the Downtown one is during a time in winter were the businesses need the biggest boost.
