If China or N Korea attatcked Taiwan or S Korea, the decision to go to war would have come from either China or N Korea.

^^^^^^Yes, they would have started it but the decision to spank them would come from DC. I know it's hard for you to fathom that but do a little research on the subject before you respond next time.

It was a pretty straight forward question and answer. Not sure how much research was required.

The decision to "spank" them as you put it would have come from every voter in the US. Not the city of DC.

Let me give some of you a little snapshot of the power and influence that comes out of DC

Two Air Buses crash back to back. The FAA in DC grounds all Airbus flights in the U.S.

Wall Street needs a bailout. The Feds in DC give them an unprecedented handout to keep them afloat.

A chemical company in Michigan is dumping illegal waste in Lake Michigan, the EPA in DC steps in to fine the company.

Don Imus calls Rutgers women's bball team some chioce words. The FCC in DC leans on his company along with advertisers for his dismissal.

A few Wall Street Brokers decide to let a couple of shareholders in on a major stock being dumped. The SEC in DC steps in a foils the plot.

A new drug that will cure whooping cough is discovered. The FDA in DC has to approve it.

Your state has some qiestionable labor practices resulting in people loosing their jobs. The Labor Dept in DC will handle it.

Your company wants to trade airplane components with China. The DOT&C in DC has to approve it.

You decided to carry 10 dependents and not to pay income tax in 2010. The IRS in DC will be visiting you.

You just invented a device that can detect if a person is intoxicated by blowing in a tube. But first you must send it to the Patent Office in DC.

A hurricane tears up the Gulf Coast. FEMA in DC comes (late as ever) to the rescue.

Nevada decides to raise its speed limit to 85. The FHA in DC tells them that if they don't reduce it back to 75, they will never see another dime of federal highway funding.

Like it or not, everything that you touch, smell, eat, speak or see in your daily lives comes through DC in some way, shape or form.

Hmmmmmmm! I studied the Cuban Missile Crisis in college and I don't remember Prez Kennedy asking for a vote from the American public on how to deal with the Soviets. Believe me if a crisis occurs, you will not have a vote. The decision to go to war will come from the White House in DC or maybe Boston. I get confused.

Only in America would someone try to argue that power is not in the nation's capital. LOL.....and yet D.C. is the number one economy in the country right now because the country will always protect it's nation's capital. We should have businesses flock to be near the government. The governemnt runs everything in this country. We should be protected, we are the brain of the entire operation. D.C., London, Paris, and Tokyo are all responsible for the rest of their countries. If any of these cities fall, their countries fall.

Who put Kennedy in Office? Who put Obama in office? I'll give you a hint. It wasn't DC.

The federal government and the city of DC are not synonymous.

Md,

I just gave everybody a snapshot of DC's influence on their daily lives. It's scary how much power comes from 61 square miles.

If the Federal Government and DC are not synonymous, then LA and Entertainment Industry aren't either. Neither is New York and Wall Street. You can't disconnect the two.

Like it or not, the decisions made in DC affect everything you do Cliff Claven. From the TV shows you watch (FCC) to the toothpaste you brush your teeth (FDA) with, someone at an agency in DC had to approve of it.

Wow, this is like a DC sausage party with open bar.

Great, so DC runs the world (taxes, irrational wars, regulations, permits, and other crap that restricts our so-called freedoms), now you know why so many people hate on DC. Sometimes more isn't more.
