Na, Austin and Houston has burbs with healthy economic activity. SA metro is just SA stop being difficult
Austin has Round Rock.
Houston has Baytown where there are many plants and refineries
It also Has Sugarland which is a powerhouse on its own. It has Galveston which is big with its tourism, and medical school and stuff. It also has the woodlands and Pearland.

Randolph metrocom as it's called has nearly 350,000 people consists of several northeastern suburbs of San Antonio. Anyway Baytown 70k, Round Rock 100k are no Ft, Worth. New Braunfels is 60k so its not much different than those cities you claim as big suburbs.

Huh? No way! You're wrong on almost half this list! Man, I think you got the city population wrong for Dallas, Philly, SA, and San Diego.
Whoa, New York is 8.4 million (you got this OK), but, man, this list needs some very good and very big revision.
OK, San Diego's rankings should be more than 1,300,000, and taking the number 8 spot at least! Dallas needs to stay below the 1,350,000 mark, and it needs it even lower! Philly has not decreased hugely since 2000, and no estimate will put Philly's population under 1,400,000! SA is way too huge!
One thing SweetHomeSanAntonio is missing is that San Antonio also has a lot of ETJ that it hasn't annexed yet. So even if only 60% (that's still high) of SA's metro is in its city limits, there is still a lot more people in San Antonio's ETJ. That's why SA's suburbs are so insignificant, for a metro of its size. Austin, a smaller metro, has more important suburbs even.
Not really Austin and Houston are in the same boat as San Antonio, lots of small suburbs. how are they any more important? Round Rock is bigger but if you compare it to the Randolph Metrocom which all cities are one connected urban area, it's bigger.
Will this is a topic of population. Economic wise there is a major AFB and F-1000 companies, Rackspace and the Scooter Store in nearby New braunfels.

DUh, that is where economic centers like RR, Baytown, Sugarland come in.
They are major principle centers for their metro.
SA Metro is just SA.
population means nothing.
The largest city other than Houston is Pasadena, do you see it included in the Metro Name?? no because it is not a center of economic activity. It maybe 6 times the size of Baytown, but it does not have the jobs.
Htown, SA metro is not just S.A. there is about 600,000 people surrounding it's city limts that is urbanized area, the rest of the nearly 2.2 million are outlying exburb cities. As far as the economic might of S.A. suburbs, they do have some major companies and plants but not on the same level as Baytown. But why are you going off topic?

Man, I think you got the city population wrong for Dallas, Philly, SA, and San Diego.
Philly has not decreased hugely since 2000, and no estimate will put Philly's population under 1,400,000! 
SA is way too huge!
