I always forget how large the Inland Empire really is, it seems just shooting distance from San Francisco/Oakland MSA at this point. And given the trends of the last decade, poised to surpass it and compete directly with Phoenix MSA (similar in size).
They were supposed to pass SF in 2010 but the final years of the decade were brutal for inland counties due to the recesssion.

Los Angeles County, CA will become the first U.S. county with 10,000,000 people by 2015.

The State of California already places LA County above 10 Million.

Seems odd in that people would think 30 or cities before then would consider SA on size - like Jax in FL

How is 1.3 million out of 2.2 million the entire metro?

To be honest, Id rather be rich than have a lot of people.

Yeah it seems like San Jose is going to have to wait another decade and a half or so (at least a decade) before it gets to join the 1 Million and up club.

San Diego seems to have indefinitely held its spot over Dallas, and seems like that will be the case for another 10-15 years to come with the way things went this US Census.

I think a lot of people put a lot of stock into their cities estimates. The entire rule of doing estimates from here on out, I'm taking it with a grain of salt from now on. It's really not worth believing them over.

Looks like a done deal to me. I think we know what to expect for the remaining places left. Especially with New York, Georgia, & Florida. I'm curious on Michigan though. Detroit City, MSA, & CSA in particular though.
FYI, you have OKC and NewOrleans MSA places backward.

Yes, they are! ......there is a reason they are part of the CMA. Many folks live in these towns and commute to SAC or Placer Counties for work and college.

Alot of Sac folks own vacation homes/cabins in the Truckee/Tahoe Area. The enitre I-80 corridor to the Nevada border (Sac, Placer, and Neveda Counties) is connected to SacTown as is US 50 (Sac, and El Dorado County)

Yuba City - Anything between Yuba City(Sutter & Yuba Counties) and Sac along Highway 99 (north) is part of that same commute to SAC.

Sacramento CSA:
- Yolo County, CA: 200,849
- Placer County, CA: 348,432
- El Dorado County, CA: 181,058
- Sacramento County, CA: 1,418,788
- Yuba County, CA: 72,155
- Sutter County, CA: 94,737
- Nevada County, CA: 98,764
- Douglas County, NV: 46,997
Total: 2,461,780

This is great news for the Piedmont of NC. I haven't been keeping up on the route because I have been too preoccupied with the stupidity of Florida's new criminal governor rejecting funding for the Orlando-Tampa HSR.

What's the proposed route? Charlotte-Greensboro-Durham-Raleigh? I took the regular train once from Raleigh to Charlotte (and back) with a group of friends. While it was a fun trip, I would much prefer for it to just get me from point A to point B just a little faster.

I wonder how Boston's CSA numbers will fare and if the Bay will stay in 6th place or if it will jump to the #5 spot. Yeah, California's numbers are a bummer.
